N.S.S. unit of the College organized a Seven Days long N.S.S. Camp from December 20-26, 2023 under the supervision of the Programme Officers Dr.Jagjit Singh and Dr. Mini Sharma. As many as 62 volunteers participated in the camp with appreciable dedication and motivation. The main theme of the camp was, ?Swachh Bharat?.The camp was inaugurated on December 20, 2023 by S. Santokh Singh Gill. Various activities which marked the seven-day long camp included poster making competition, awareness rally, extension lectures, tree plantation and cleanliness drives at different areas in and nearby village Sadhar, Nukkad Natak on the theme ?Save Water?, Yoga camp, visit to Manukhta di Sewa Society at Village Hassanpur, Gurudwara Tahliana Sahib, Mehdiana Sahib, Gill Farms in the Village Sudhar and Memorial of Maharaja Duleep Singh in village Bassian. Volunteers showcased their artistic best in the poster making competition and prepared posters on the themes related to various social issues like Drug Abuse,Female Foeticide, Environment Protection and theme of the Camp Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. In the awareness rally volunteers raised the slogans like ?Rukh Lgao, Jeevan Bachaao? , ?Paani di Bachat karo? , ?Prali Na Jalaao, Vatavaran Bachao? etc. to spread awareness among villagers on the environmental and other social issues.On the concluding day S. Gurniab Singh, Principal Ajitsar Khalsa School, Jangpur graced the occasion as Chief Guest. A cultural programme was organized to mark the concluding day in which the volunteers showcased their talents by presenting cultural items consisting of Shabad, Speeches, religious songs and poems dedicated to Char Sahibzadas. Babanpreet Kaur and Anand Raj of B.Ed.second year were adjudged as the best volunteers among girls and boys respectively.
Marking a significant step towards creating a collaborative and enriching educational environment , College signed a MoU with A.S. College, Khanna on December 19, 2023. This collaboration aims to enhance education opportunities, promote knowledge sharing, organize academic exchange programmes and joint research initiatives along with resource sharing.The event was attended by representatives from both the Colleges.
In collaboration with the Rehabilitation Centre, Jagraon College organized an extension lecture under Nasha Virodhi Muhim on December 12, 2023. The guest speakers on the occasion included S. Jaswinder Singh Manager Rehabilitation Centre, District Ludhiana, SDH Jagraon Sub Division Hospital, S. Budha Singh Neelon, Editor Prime Uday Ludhiana and Ms. Amanpeet Kaur, Counsellor, Rehabilitation Centre, District Ludhiana, SDH Jagraon. The lecture played a crucial role in fostering awareness and encouraging a proactive stance against this pressing issue.
The College conducted an interactive live session on preparing teaching aids, showcasing practical methods for student teachers to enhance their teaching material. The session covered diverse aids such as visual aids and other interactive tools. The student teachers actively participated in the session by gaining hands-on experiences.
The College celebrated UNICEF Day on December 11, 2023 in the College campus. A special lecture was organized by the Red Ribbon Club and Language Clubs of the College on this occasion. S. Jagpal Singh, Press reporter ?Ajit?, Ms. Bindu Uppal, Press reporter ?Dainik Jagran?, S. Harpreet Singh Ladi, Press reporter, ?Punjabi Jagran and Pehredar? and S. Jagroop Singh from Web Channel, Ajit were guest speakers on the occasion. S.Jagpal Singh while interacting with the students on the Importance of Celebrating UNICEF Day said that UNICEF, also known as the United Nations Children Emergency Fund, is celebrated worldwide every year on 11th December to reimagine a better future for every child. UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children?s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. Ms. Bindu Uppal highlighted that the educational institutions must organize activities like writing slogans, poems and prepare posters on Rights of every child seeking Safe Shelter, Proper Nutrition, Child Protection from Disasters and Conflicts, Equality, Education, Social Inclusion. She said that these activities not only create awareness about the role of UNICEF in societies worldwide but at the same time, students also realize how children?s rights are violated in different parts of the world and how they can be protected and addressed. S. Harpreet Ladi shared UNICEF Plan for 2023 with the students.
As the College always ensures to make a balance between academic enrichment and recreational activities, allowing students to broaden their horizons beyond the confines of the classroom. A one-day educational trip to Panjab University, Chandigarh, Sukhna Lake and Rock Garden was organized by the College December 02,2023. A group of 30 students accompanied by Dr. Jasleen Kaur and Dr. Jagit Singh went on this educational trip. The students first visited the administrative block of the University Along with the main campus. The students then went on to explore the city of Chandigarh.They visited the iconic Sukhna Lake and enjoyed the picturesque views. They also explored the Rock Garden and had a great time over there.
The Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of the College organized an awareness rally to mark the world Aids day on December 01, 2023. The event drew enthusiastic participation from students and faculty. The participants marched in the nearby areas carrying banners, placards conveying messages of prevention, acceptance and significance of regular testing in the prevention against AIDS.
A workshop on developing Audio-Visual Aids was organized in the College Campus for the students of B.Ed. S. Jasvir Singh, District mentor Science and S. Manpreet Singh, Block Mentor, mathematics were resource persons on the occasion. The participants learned about the role of effective audio- visual aids in fostering the learning environment in the classrooms.They also learned about the practical skills to integrate audio-visual aids in their teaching methodologies.
The College organized an FDP on the topic ?Open Educational Resources: A Catalyst for Innovations in Education? from November 29, 2023- December 07,2023. The FDP was organized in collaboration with the Council for Teacher Education Foundation and nine Colleges across the nation with whom the College has signed Memorandum of Understanding for conducting various research and extension activities. G.H.G. Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar initiated a Global Student Assistance Programme named Vidya Daan in collaboration with Ghoman Group USA on November 28, 2023. The programme has been chalked in the memory of Smt. Manjit Kaur Ghoman. Under this programme the students will be offered scholarship, mentorship and educational resources thereby providing access to quality education and empowering students for a brighter future.
Students of the College performed marvelously in the Panjab University Annual Athletic Meet of Evening and Educational Colleges. The meet was held from November 25-27, 2023 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The College won the overall trophy in the Women's Category. College won a total of 11 medals in the athletic meet. College student Sandeep Kaur won the Best Athlete trophy in the event. Besides this College girl students won gold medal in 4*100 m relay race. Kamaldeep Kaur won gold medal in Long jump and Javelin throw. Sandeep Kaur, another student, won a gold medal in the High Jump category. Gurpreet Kaur won gold medal and silver medal in 200 m race and long jump respectively. Among the boys team of the College, Tejpinder Singh won Silver medal in Long Jump Category while Jashanpreet Singh won the Bronze medal in the Javelin throw. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College congratulated Mr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, Instructor Physical Education in the College and all the winners as well as participants on this wonderful achievement.

College organized its annual Alumni Meet on November 16, 2023. More than 100 alumni attended the event to relive college years and reconnect with their Alma Mater. The meet was organized by Alumni Association of the college under the patron ship of Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college and Prof. Rachhpal Singh, Working Secretary of the Alumni Association of the college. A poetical event was organized on the occasion to celebrate the Punjabi Month as per the directions of Govt. of Punjab. The poetical event witnessed the recitation of self-composed poems by the alumni of the College.The audience was truly delighted with the melodious compositions. S. Prabhjot Sohi, Mr. Rajdeep Toor, Mr. Ramanjeet Singh, Mr. Ravinder Ravi, Mr. Ranjit Hatoor, Dr. Yash Ji Nakodar, Mr. Sukhchain Singh and Mr. Gurpreet Toosa shared their beautiful compositions with the audience. S. Santokh Singh Gill, President, Alumni Association of the college presented a brief report of the achievements of the Alumni Association to the audience and acknowledged the role of the College in providing efficient teachers to the society. A book named ? Jugnua de Ang Sang? written by Mr. Jagjit Singh Lohatbadi an alumnus of 1981-82 batch of the College was released on the occasion. Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle Wing of the College held a Book Exhibition in the College campus on this special occasion.
An Extension lecture on the topic ?Innovative Learning on Sustainable Future? was organized in the College campus to commemorate National Education Day. This day is celebrated every year on November 11 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, first Education minister of independent India. Dr. Gurwinder Singh from Punjabi Department of G.H.G.H. Harparkash College of Education, Sidhwan Khurd acted as resource person on the occasion. The lecture was organized under the faculty exchange programme. Dr. Gurwinder Singh while interacting with the faculty and students highlighted the contribution of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad to the Education system of independent India. He further elaborated that The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Sahitya Academy, Lalit Kala Academy, Sangeet Natak Academy, Indian Institute of Technology and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) were set up under his guidance.
The College organized a one day N.S.S camp on November 10, 2023, in the college campus. All the students at the College participated in the camp under the able guidance of NSS Programme Officers Dr. Mini Sharma and Dr. Jagjit Singh. The camp was organized with the objectives to develop the personality of students through participation in community work as well as competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities. The camp was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, to spread awareness regarding Green and safe Diwali a poster making competition was organized by the Eco Club and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Club of the College. A Cleanliness drive was organized in the second phase of the camp where the volunteers cleaned the college campus including classrooms, staff room, College Hall, Parking area and various labs of the college.
Enlighten - An exhibition cum sale was organized by the G.H.G. Khalsa Colleges on November 07, 2023 in the degree College Campus. The exhibition showcased the diwali decorations and artifacts prepared by the needy school students. The event not only showcased the creative talents of the students but also provided them with a platform to earn money. On the whole the initiative not only contributed to the festive spirit but also promoted support for those in need.
NSS and Red Ribbon Club of the College observed Vigilance Awareness Week from October 30-November 5, 2023 on the theme ?Say No to corruption: Commit to the Nation?. Different activities were carried out in this regard in the College campus. On October 31, 2023 an Integrity Pledge was taken by all the students and faculty of the college. On November 02, 2023 a slogan writing/Poster Making competition was organized by the Fine Arts Department of the college. The students of B.Ed. and M.Ed. actively took part in the slogan writing competition and made beautiful posters with impressive slogans written on them. They wrote slogans like: ?Say No to Corruption?, ?Anti-Corruption Starts from You, ?Corruption- Your No Counts?, ?Break the Corruption Chain?, etc. All the posters prepared by students were later displayed in the college library. A special morning assembly was also organized on the occasion in which the students and faculty members presented their views on the theme ?Corruption? in the form of poems, speeches and PowerPoint presentations. A special lecture on the theme ?Menace of Corruption and the Ways to Eradicate It? was also organized as the part of Vigilance Awareness Week where Dr. Manu Chadha, Incharge IQAC of the college shared examples related to the corruption prevalent in the society. She also highlighted the duties of every citizen to combat the problem of Corruption. The B.Ed. students of the Semester III who are on their School internship programme also celebrated Vigilance Awareness Week in their respective practicing schools.
Moral Education Exam by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Ludhiana was conducted in the College Campus on November 03, 2023. Nearly 53 students undertook the examination. The exam is aimed to assess students? understanding of moral principles and promote a sense of social responsibility. Ramandeep Kaur of B.Ed. Sem IV secured 3 rd position while Komalpreet Kaur of B.Ed. Sem I got 8 th position in the merit list of Ludhiana Zone.
The College continued its impressive run in the field of cultural activities by winning the first runners up trophy in the Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of Educational Colleges (Zone ?B) held at Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Ludhiana from October 18-20, 2023. The College won a total of 54 Prizes in the event. The participants made their mark by winning 26 First Prizes in events like Group Bhajan/Shabad, Folk Song, Geet, Group dance, Instrumental Music (Percussion), Folk Orchestra, One Act Play, Folk Instrument, Skit, Phulkari, Knitting, Crochet Work, Short Story Writing, Vaar, Kavishri, Folk Dance, Histrionics and Peehri Making. Students won 17 second prizes and 11 third prizes in the various categories of the youth festival.
An inspection team composed of officials from Panjab University, Chandigarh visited the College on October 17, 2023 for annual inspection of Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counseling.
State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), Punjab hosted State-Level Role Play and Folk Dance Competition in the College campus on October 16, 2023. The event was organized under the esteemed National Population Education Project of National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT). This exciting event brought together the State?s finest talent to showcase their creativity, cultural diversity and commitment to education and awareness. Participants from various Government schools across the state participated in this cultural fiesta. Dr.Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College applauded the efforts of the SCERT, Punjab and said that this unique competition serves as a platform to promote understanding and awareness of population-related issues in an engaging and entertaining manner. This event reflects Punjab?s commitment to the goals of the National Population Education Project, which seeks to spread awareness about population issues, family life, and reproductive health, thus contributing to a more informed and responsible society. In order to promote self expression, self- confidence and enhance personal grooming among girl students, a workshop on Hair styling was organized in the College campus on October 16, 2023. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Garnier and Dainik Jagran. Students, faculty as well as people from the nearby areas availed the free hair styling services in the workshop.
BDPEO office organized Meri Mati Mera Desh Kalsah Yatra Programme in the College campus on October 13, 2023. The event reinforced the idea that the bond between the land and the country is one that should be cherished and protected by everyone.
In an initiative to promote the habit of using old recyclable waste to create beautiful crafts and to reduce the waste generation, Fine Arts Club , Eco Club and NSS Wing of the College organized a Workshop on ?Blooming Brushes for Environment? on October 13, 2023. Ms. Bably S. Singh, State Level Fine Arts Expert was the resource person on the occasion. The main objective of the workshop was to create art for a sustainable environment. While interacting with the students Ms. Bably said that creating art on the issues concerning the environment helps students feel connected to environmental topics, even if these issues are happening far away from their homes . She shared some practical tips with the students on the reuse of waste material generated in their homes. The workshop ignited the artistic potential of the College students and was a learning experience for all, that promoted creativity, artistic excellence and a vision to reduce waste generation.
The College organized a Talent Hunt Competition from October 03-05, 2023 in order to explore the hidden talents of the students. All the students of M.Ed., B.Ed. and Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counseling participated in the event with great enthusiasm. Students showcased their talent in various areas including fine arts, heritage, literary, dance and singing. Under fine arts category competitions were held for painting, landscape, collage making, rangoli and poster making. In the music category competitions were organized for classical vocal, Shabad/Bhajan, instrumental and folk group singing. Besides there were contests for literary categories which included creative writing, debate, declamation, elocution and handwriting etc.
The NSS Unit of the College as per the direction of Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Punjab organized a series of activities to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. A plethora of activities were organized on this occasion in the College Campus. A Cleanliness drive was organized as the initial activity for the day where the students cleaned the College campus including classrooms, staff room, College Hall, parking area and various labs of the College. Students and faculty of the College also organized a rally on the ill effects of indiscriminate usage of plastic. During the awareness rally, students raised the slogan ?Say no to Plastic and Save the Environment?. College students also created awareness among the local people about the harm of using single use plastic. Students visited the homes of the local people and made them aware of the dreadful impact of plastic on the environment. They also told them about the alternatives of using plastic and thereby helping in sustaining a clean and green environment. Students of the College participated in Slogan writing activity. They prepared various slogans to highlight the need of saving the environment from harmful plastics.
College commemorated the 116th birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh on September 28, 2023. A special lecture related to the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh was organized on the initiative of Punjabi Sahitya Sabha of the college. Prof. Baljit Singh Virk from the Department of History, G.H.G. Khalsa College Gurusar Sadhar Ludhiana, was the guest speaker on the occasion. Addressing the students, Prof. Baljit Singh said that Bhagat Singh's life was greatly influenced by the social conditions of his time. Bhagat Singh was a great reader; he believed that inequality can be eradicated only through the power of knowledge. He further added that his ideas still serve as a beacon of light for us today. A book exhibition was also organized in the College Library under the supervision of Mr. Jagtar Singh and Mr. Hardeep Singh on the books related to S. Bhagat Singh?s life; his philosophy and thinking.
Students along with the faculty of the college paid obeisance at Gurudwara Sahib Shri Hargobind Sahibji, Gurusar Sadhar as a part of ritual of the college for the successful commencement of the new session of the college on September 13, 2023.Guru Ka Langar was also served to all on this occasion.
In order to acquaint new entrants of the session 2023-25 with the academic structure, policies and resources of the College and ensure smooth transition into their academic journey College organized an Orientation session from September 13-18, 2023. The orientation also provided a comprehensive overview of the campus facilities, including library, laboratories and administrative offices to help the students navigate the campus more effectively.
Mela Tian Da - The festival of Teej was organized by G.H.G. Colleges on September 12, 2023 in order to foster a sense of community and provide a platform for women to express themselves through traditional rituals and cultural activities and promote solidarity among them. In the event girl students dressed in their traditional best sang traditional songs and also gave dance performances showcasing the rich cultural diversity of Punjab. Traditional Teej delicacies were also served on the occasion.
Language Clubs of the College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a remarkable function to celebrate Teachers? Day on September 5th, 2023. Dr. H.S. Brar, former Principal of the College was chief guest on the occasion. The event commenced with recitation of the College Shabad followed by paying floral tributes to Dr. Sarvapalli Radha Krishnan and lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Jagjit Singh from Punjabi Sahitya Sabha of the College formally welcomed the chief guest and faculty members present on the occasion. Dr. Mini Sharma from English Literary Society recited a poem highlighting the role played by teachers in shaping the personality of the students. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college, through his speech acknowledged the role played by teachers in building a poised society. He also highlighted that teachers constitute the most precious human resource of the society. Dr. H.S. Brar in his address said that teachers guide their students so that each one may become a person of character and develop into an upright citizen leading a life of dignity and self-respect. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
In order to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship College faculty and students celebrated National Sports Day on August 29, 2023. The day was celebrated both in the College campus as well as in the internship schools by semester II students of the College. The various activities organized on the occasion included Fitness pledge, indoor and outdoor games and lectures on the importance of sports in the life of students.
77th Independence Day was celebrated with full fervor by the B.Ed. Semester III students in their respective internship schools. Various activities were organized by the interns on the occasion which included cultural performances, poster making and quiz competitions etc. The celebrations were aimed to foster a sense of patriotism and unity among the students.
College faculty and students celebrated International Yoga Day with full enthusiasm. A yoga session was organized in this connection collectively by the G.H.G. Khalsa Colleges in degree college campus. The event was aimed to inspire individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles and cultivate a sense of balance in their lives.

The students of B.Ed. and M.Ed.1st year of the College gave a fond send off to their seniors by organizing a farewell party on June 6,2023. The hall of the college reverberated with enthusiasm and gusto of the students. The programme commenced with the college prayer followed by a cultural event in which the students performed songs, gazals, presented dances and organized many games. The grand cultural show presented by the students made the occasion incredible and lively. The students of the outgoing class delivered speeches expressing gratitude to the mentor teachers for their invaluable contribution in making this journey a memorable one. Marie Curie Science Club and Environment Club of the College celebrated World Environment day on June 05, 2023 in the College campus. A series of engaging and eco-conscious activities were organized in and around the College campus on this occasion. The various activities organized on the occasion included tree plantation drives, awareness lectures, cleanliness drives etc.
An add on Course in Arts Craftsy was organized for the students of the College from June 02-04, 2023. The course was orchestrated by Ms. Sara Karim, student of B.ED. Semester IV. The course focused on earrings making, providing students and participants with a platform to explore their creative talents and delve into the world of jewelry craftsmanship. Participants were introduced to eco-friendly materials and techniques, promoting an awareness of responsible and environmentally conscious designs in the creation of earrings.
To pay obeisance to its Late President Sardar Bakhtawar Singh Gill, GHG Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar organized Akhand Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib on May 10, 2023. A programme celebrated with religious fervor also included the Gurbani Gayan by the students in the presence of the holy Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The programme was organized collectively by GHG Khalsa Degree College, College of Education and College of Pharmacy.
College students along with the faculty members visited Dham Talwandi Khurd as part of a community service initiative.The students also contributed essential supplies and donations for the cause. The visit was aimed to foster a spirit of compassion and social responsibility among the students.
College organized Zonal (Zone B) Skill in Teaching and Teaching Aid Preparation Competition on April 24, 2023.As many as 8 Educational colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh from Zone B participated in the competition. The competition was held for the subjects of pedagogy of Science, Pedagogy of Mathematics, Pedagogy of Commerce and Pedagogy of Computer Science. Dr. Anurag Asija, Principal, D.A.V. College of Education, Fazilka was the observer for the competition. The award ceremony for the event commenced with the College Shabad followed by the floral welcome of the chief guest by Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College. While interacting with the participants Dr. Anurag Asija appreciated their efforts and wished they best of luck for their future endeavors. Dr. Rachhpal Singh was the Organizing Secretary for the event. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
With the aim to bridge the ancient knowledge with futuristic ideas, College organized ICSSR Sponsored National level seminar on the theme ?Exploring the Glorious Past, Promising Present and Future Roadmap to Vishwa Guru India? on April 21-22, 2023. The resource person for the two-day seminar included Dr. R.C Sharma, Associate Prof., Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, New Delhi, Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, Principal, M.M. Modi College, Patiala, Dr. Gaurav Singh, Prof. SOE, Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh, Dr. Arbind Kumar Jha, Prof., School of Education, IGNOU, New Delhi and Dr. Jaspal Singh, Assistant Professor, Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu. Dr. Arbind Kumar Jha was the keynote speaker on the occasion and in his address provided a glimpse of rich Indian culture and heritage which could be of immense importance to our young learners.While speaking on the occasion Dr. Gaurav Singh Said that we need to relate the knowledge from our rich cultural heritage with the knowledge we impart today. Dr. Khushvinder Kumar deliberated on the theme of Role innovation and Start-up Policy in Sustainable Development of Nation and felt the need to provide a strong and independent base to our future generations for taking creative and innovative decisions. Dr. R. C Sharma gave a live demonstration of the latest technological advancements that could be used in the field of education with great success. Dr. Jaspal Singh in his deliberation discussed the role of languages in higher education and the various challenges faced in this context. Technical sessions for the seminar were chaired by Dr. Vikas Teji, Associate Prof. D.A.N. College of Education, Nawanshahr and Dr. Yogesh Sharma, Associate Prof., Ramgarhia College of Education, Phagwara. The galaxy of renowned educationists present on the occasion included Dr. Rakesh Bharti, Assistant Prof., Govt. Degree College, Jourian, Akhnoor, Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Principal, R.B. An insightful extension lecture on the topic ? Balanced Diet? was held on the College campus on April 11, 2023. Dr. Sukhjinder Singh Ghotra, Dietician , PGI was the resource person on the occasion. The lecture was aimed to educate students and faculty about the significance of proper nutrition for overall well being. In his lecture Dr. Sukhjinder Singh emphasized that a balanced diet always contributes to better immunity, energy levels and disease prevention.
G.H.G. Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar celebrated its annual athletic meet on April 06, 2022. Dr. S.S. Thind, Secretary College Governing Council was Chief Guest on the occasion. Students enthusiastically participated in the various track and field events fostering a spirit of healthy competition. The students demonstrated their exceptional skills and determination in events like Races (100m, 800m, 1500m), shot put, long jump, lemon race etc. Gurjeet Singh of B.Ed. 2nd Year and Harman Kaur of B.Ed. the 2nd Year was declared as the best athlete among the boys and girls respectively.
Students of the College visited the Dental Clinic in the Degree College premises for annual dental check up activity on March 27, 2023. The visit was aimed to enhance their understanding of oral health practices and dental care. A dedicated question answer session was also conducted on the occasion covering topics such as preventive care, common dental issues and role of technology in modern dentistry.
Barsi of Nihang Shamsher Singh Ji, Founder of GHG Institutions and great social reformer of the area was celebrated with full enthusiasm on March 25, 2023. Students and faculty of the College visited Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi to offer prayers on the occasion. In the spirit of selfless service the students and faculty actively participated in Sewa for preparing and serving Langar and cleaning processes. The celebration was aimed to reinforce the values instilled by Nihang Shamsher Singh Ji and encourage a sense of gratitude among the students.
The Red Ribbon Club of the College organised a state level seminar to celebrate World Tuberculosis Day on March 24, 2023. In this seminar Mr. Davinder Singh Lotte Assistant Director, Youth Services, Ludhiana, Mr. Balwinder Singh, Senior Pharmacy Officer and Mr. Gurwinder Singh from Premjit Memorial Hospital, Sadhar, Ludhiana participated as keynote speakers. Mr. Davinder Singh Lotey while interacting with the students said that every year on March 24, World T. B. Day is celebrated to spread awareness about this disease. He said that according to research, 28000 people are affected by this disease every day and with the efforts of scientists, 63 million people have been saved so far. S. Balwinder Singh in his speech said that the highest number of deaths in the world every year is due to Tuberculosis. He said that it is a disease that affects the respiratory system and is of two types ? active and inactive. He further elaborated that this disease spread due to malnutrition, use of drugs like alcohol cigarettes and tobacco. He highlighted that this disease is completely curable and is treated free of cost in every government hospital. Dr. Mini Sharma, Assistant Professor in the College shared her ideas to fight this disease with a positive attitude. The topic of her presentation was ? Yes! We Can End T.B.! She said that there is a need to have a good attitude with the affected person. Kirandeep Kaur, an M. Ed. student in the College and Uttampreet Kaur, a student of B.Ed. first year also presented their papers on the topic ?World Tuberculosis Day?.
College students showed a remarkable performance in the Annual Intercollege Sports Competition of Panjab University, Chandigarh from March 21-26, 2023. The Girls? Volleyball team clinched the Bronze medal in the event while the Table tennis team of Boys won the Silver medal in the competition.
College organized a one-day educational trip to Sultanpur Lodhi on March 07, 2023. The trip was aimed to provide a historical and cultural insight into the region of visit. Students visited Gurudwara Ber Sahib where they gained insights into the historical events associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji. In the afternoon students paid a visit to Harike Patan Bird Sanctuary providing students with an opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity and ecological significance of the region.
A seminar on the theme? Health well being and Sports? was organized in the College campus on February 27, 2023. Dr. Baljinder Singh, from department of Physical Education, G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar was resource person on the occasion.
Osheen Kapoor of B.Ed. first year and Kiranpreet Kaur of M.Ed. second year who have bagged second and third position respectively for the Punjab Circle level category in the National Level competition of ?Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Campaign? were felicitated by Mr. Kishori Lal, Supdt. Post Office, Ludhiana(M Division Ludhiana) in College campus on February 27, 2023. Both students have been rewarded with a cash prize of 10,000 and 5,000 respectively. The theme of the Letter writing Competition was ?Vision for India 2047?. The campaign is an initiative by the Department of Posts, Govt. of India with an objective to connect with the younger generation and to imbibe the hobby of letter writing among children. This initiative also attempts to crowdsource the thoughts of the younger generation on key issues concerning the nation.
The 1995-96 batch of B.Ed. and M.Ed. students held a get-together in the College campus on February 11, 2023. The meet was organized under the guidance of Dr. Rachhpal Singh, Incharge Alumni Association of the College.
College organised a one day National level seminar on the topic NEP 2020: Towards a Multidisciplinary Approach to Education on February 03, 2023. The seminar was sponsored by College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh and was organized in collaboration with Council for Teacher Education Federation, (CTEF). Dr. Latika Sharma, Prof. and Fellow, Panjab University Chandigarh and Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, Principal M.M. Modi College, Patiala was resource person for the first and second session of the seminar respectively. While deliberating on the sub themes of the seminar ABC of NEP 2020, Prof. Latika Sharma highlighted the concept of Academic Bank of Credits and said that ABC is an educational digital platform created to facilitate students? seamless mobility between or within degree granting higher education institutions in order to promote distributed and flexible teaching and learning. She further contemplated that there is a need to bridge the disconnect between ?what is taught in the class and what is required by the society?. Dr. Khushvinder Kumar in his address deliberated at length about the Multidisciplinary Approach to Education where he discussed the integration of various disciplines in order to have holistic learning. He also talked about the role of academic collaboration between institutions leading to multidisciplinary education and research.
Management, staff and students of the College organized a farewell party for Dr. Davinder Kaur Dhatt who superannuated from her services in the College on January 31, 2023. The event was organized to express gratitude and bid a fond farewell to Dr. Davinder Kaur Dhatt who has contributed significantly to the academic community during her stay in the College. A carefully curated slides of memorable moments of Dr. Davinder Kaur Dhatt in the College was presented by Dr. Jasleeen Kaur. Dr. Dhatt was presented with a token of appreciation by the Governing Council of the College on this occasion.
The Social Vision Club of the College celebrated 74th Republic Day with patriotic fervour. After the flag hoisting and oath taking ceremony, a cultural programme was organized by the students of B.Ed. and M.Ed. to mark the event. Semester IV student delivered a speech on ?Importance of Celebrating Republic Day? while Yamini, Pawan and Himanshu recited beautiful poems on the theme ?Patriotism?. Mr. Sukhchain Singh from the Physical Education Department of the College shared his thoughts on the topic "Republic Day". The students of B.Ed. and M.Ed. filled the atmosphere with a sense of patriotism by performing dances on the beautiful patriotic songs. Navdeep, a student of B.Ed. delivered a speech on ?Mera Desh Mahan? and Chetna, another B.Ed. student enthralled the audience with her melodious song dedicated to the Republic Day. M.Ed. student Ekamjit Kaur highlighted the fact that as to why we celebrate 26th January as Republic Day. Kiranpreet Kaur, a student of M.Ed. semester IV moderated the stage for the entire event. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college in his motivational speech on the occasion inspired the students to follow the path of constitution and fulfill their duties as responsible citizens. Semester 3, moderated the stage for the entire event. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College, motivated the students with his inspiring words and asked them to follow the constitution and perform all their duties as responsible citizens. N.S.S. unit of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized Seven Day
long N.S.S. Camp from December 22-28, 2022 under the supervision of the Programme Officers Dr.
Rachhpal Singh and Dr. Mini Sharma. As many as 61 volunteers participated in the camp with
appreciable dedication and motivation. The main theme of the camp was, ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha
Bharat and Fit India’.
The camp was inaugurated on December 22, 2022 by Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College
of Education, Jammu. The inauguration ceremony commenced with the College Shabad followed by
address of Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College. Addressing the NSS volunteers, Dr.
Pargat Singh Garcha insisted the students to be socially active and responsible person. The objective
of organizing the camp was to inculcate sense of responsibility among the volunteers. Various
activities which marked the seven-day long camp included poster making competition, awareness
rally, extension lectures, tree plantation and cleanliness drives at different areas in and nearby village
Sadhar, a Yoga camp and medical checkup camp etc. Volunteers showcased their artistic best in the
poster making competition and prepared posters on the themes related to various social issues like
Drug Abuse, Female Foeticide, Environment Protection and theme of the Camp Ek Bharat Shreshtha
Bharat. In the awareness rally volunteers raised the slogans like “Rukh Lgao, Jeevan Bachaao” ,
“Paani di Bachat karo” , “Prali Na Jalaao, Vaataavaran Bachao” etc. to spread awareness among
villagers on the environmental and other social issues.
On the concluding day Dr. Sanjeev Chopra graced the occasion as Chief Guest. A cultural
programme was organized to mark the concluding day in which the volunteers showcased their
talents by presenting cultural items comprising of Shabad, speech, patriotic songs, group dance, skit
etc. Babanpreet Kaur and Amandeep Singh of B.Ed. first year were adjudged as the best volunteers
among girls and boys respectively. The prominent guests present on the occasion included Dr. Jagjit
Singh Brar, S. Charanjit Singh Gill, Mrs. Kuljeet Kaur, S. Gurnaib Singh, S. Harminder Singh and S.
Gurmeet Singh Brar.
Dr. Manu Chadha, Associate Prof.in the college presented vote of thanks at the end of the
event. Dr. Jagjit Singh, from Punjabi Department of the College conducted the stage on the occasion.
G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized its annual Alumni Meet on
November 12, 2022. More than 50 alumni attended the event to relive college years and
reconnect with their Alma Mater. The meet was organized by Alumni Association of the college
under the patron ship of Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college and Prof. Rachhpal
Singh, Working Secretary of the Alumni Association of the college. S. Jaswant Jafar, renowned
poet was Chief Guest and S. Sukhwinder Singh Gurm, District Language Officer, Barnala was
guest of honour on the occasion. The event started with the of college Shabad followed by
formal welcome of the chief Guest and the alumni by Principal Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha.
A poetical event was organized on the occasion to celebrate the Punjabi Month as per the
directions of Govt. of Punjab. The poetical event witnessed the recitation of self-composed
poems by the alumni. The audience was truly delighted with the melodious compositions. S.
Prabhjot Sohi, Ms. Joginder Noormeet, Mr. Pali Khadim, Mr. Rajdeep Toor, Mr. Ramanjeet
Singh Mr. Raninder Ravi, Mr. Ranjit Hatoor, Dr. Yashji Nakodri, Mr. Amarjit Singh shared their
beautiful compositions with the audience. S. Santokh Singh Gill, President, Alumni Association
of the college presented a brief report of the achievements of the Alumni Association to the
audience and acknowledged the role of the College in providing efficient teachers to the society.
Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha in his speech expressed gratitude to the alumni association for
generating funds, which are used by college for helping needy students. He also shared the
achievement of the College in academic, sports and cultural arena. The alumni of the college
shared their experiences as well as interesting moments of campus life with the audience. The

In order to discuss the various challenges and opportunities of National Education Policy 2020,
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar in collaboration with Council for Teacher
Education Foundation organized a seminar on the topic “National Education Policy 2020:
Reforms in Higher Education" on November 05, 2022. The resource person on the occasion
included Prof. Sachidanand Mohanty, Former Vice Chancellor, Central University, Orissa and
Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, Principal, M.M. Modi College, Patiala. The event started with the
recital of College Shabad followed by Lamp lightning ceremony. Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal
G.H.G. Khalsa College, Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal, G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education
and Dr. Satwinder Kaur, Principal, G.H.G. Khalsa College of Pharmacy presented formal
welcome to the resource persons.
While speaking on the occasion Prof. Sachidanand Mohanty said that Education is as inevitable
as breathing. He threw light on the internationalization of education in India which must be part
and parcel of its education system. He mentioned few strategies for internationalization of Indian
Education System by providing students with opportunities for self growth, making them self
reliant, providing career opportunities, encouraging creative and original thinking etc. Prof.
Mohanty recommended the organization of Study India Programmes in the educational
institutions.
Dr. Khushvinder Kumar in his address highlighted the need of transforming standalone institutes
into multidisciplinary institutions in the light of National Education Policy 2020. He suggested
that educational institutions must strengthen themselves by providing various add on courses.
Dr. Khushvinder Kumar also raised some issues and concerns regarding merger of educational
institutions for having the status of multidisciplinary institutions. A Panel discussion also
followed after the deliberation by the resource persons where the attendees put forth their queries
related to the various facets of NPE 2020.
A book named “Post Covid Education Scenario in India” and latest issue of GHG Journal of
sixth Thought- A biannual Research Journal was released on the occasion. The galaxy of
renowned educationists present on the occasion included Dr. Tripta Parmar, Principal S.D.S.
College of Education for Women, Lopon, Mr. and Mrs. Sanghera from Managing Committee,
S.D.S. Colleges for Women, Lopon, Bibi Karmjit Kaur, Principal Dr. Gurwinder Kaur and
delegates from different colleges of the area.
Students of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar has once again proved their
mettle in the Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of Educational Colleges
(Zone –B) held at S.D.S. College of Education, Lopon from October 31-November 02, 2022.
The College won 54 Prizes and the overall trophy. The participants made their mark by winning 28 First
Prizes in events like Group Bhajan/Shabad, Folk Geet, Group dance, Instrumental Music (Non-
percussion), Folk Orchestra, One Act Play, Bhand, Histrionics, Debate, Handwriting (Hindi), Vaar, Kali,
Muhaveredar Vartalap, Chikku Making, Paranda Making, Pihri Making, Rassa vatna and Guddiyan
Patole. Students won 15 second prizes and 11 third prizes in the various categories. S. Manjit Singh
Gill, President, College Governing Council and Dr. S.S. Thind, Secretary College Governing Council
congratulated Principal Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, faculty as well as students for putting in their best
efforts in the Youth Festival.
While felicitating the students and faculty on this momentous occasion, Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha
encouraged them to scale still further heights. He said that it is always the prime objective of GHG
College to provide the best platform for its students to nourish and showcase their talent.
Pallavi Sejwal, Student of B.Ed Semester III of the college won three medals in Panjab University Intercollege Swimming Championship 2022. Pallavi got one Gold Medal in 50m Freestyle butterfly, one silver medal in 200m backstroke and one bronze medal in 400m freestyle categories. While congratulating Pallavi Sejwal and Mr. Sukhchain Singh, Physical Education Instructor in the College, Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College said that this achievement is a proud moment for the College. He further added that G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education has always been committed towards all round development of the students and provides multifaceted opportunities in the form of co-curricular, sports and allied activities to the students to unveil their hidden potential. G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized one day N.S.S camp on
October 21, 2022 in the college campus. All the students of the college participated in the
camp under the able guidance of Programme Officers Dr. Jasleen Kaur and Dr. Rachhpal
Singh. The camp was organized with the objectives to develop personality of students
through participation in community work as well as competence required for group living
and sharing responsibilities.
The camp was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, to spread the awareness
regarding Green and safe Diwali a poster making competition was organized by the Eco
Club, Fine Arts Club and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Club of the College.
A Cleanliness and tree plantation drive was organized in the second phase of the camp
where the volunteers cleaned the college campus including classrooms, staff room,
College Hall, Parking area and various labs of the college and planted trees in the College
premises. All the students participated in the camp with full enthusiasm. Dr. Pargat Singh
Garcha, Principal of the college congratulated the NSS Wing, Eco Club, Fine Arts Club
and Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Club of the college for the successful organization of the
camp. He also congratulated the students for participating in the camp wholeheartedly.
Library Department and Punjabi Sahitya Sabha of G. H. G. Khalsa College of Education,
Gurusar Sadhar organized a book exhibition and special lecture on book writing in the college
campus on October 20, 2022. Dr. Sandeep Sharma, District Language Officer, Ludhiana and S.
Raghbir Singh Mehmi, eminent mini story writer were the main speakers on the occasion.
The lecture commenced with the college Prayer 'Deh Shiva Bar Mohi Ihai' followed by formal
welcome of the chief guests by Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college. Dr. Sandeep
Sharma in his interaction encouraged the students to read good books and do this practice at the
habitual level. S. Raghbir Singh Mehmi shared his personal life experiences with the audience
and said that every person can be a writer. Every person who works in an office, a street worker,
a daily wage earner can write about his daily life experiences and can become a good writer.
On this occasion, a book exhibition was also organized by the library department of the College,
in which books related to Punjabi, Hindi and English literature, religion, History, Education and
Psychology etc. were displayed for the faculty as well as students. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha
congratulated Dr. Jagjit Singh, S. Jagtar Singh and S. Hardeep Singh from Punjabi and Library
Department respectively for organizing the event successfully. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
The new academic session of B.Ed., M. Ed. and P. G. Diploma in Guidance and Counseling commenced with Path of Sri Sukhmani Sahib at G. H. G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar. All the students and staff members recited path of Sri Sukhmani Sahib in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Dr. Jagjit Singh, Asst. Prof. in the College along with the students performed Kirtan after the path. To seek the blessings of Almighty for the successful completion of new session, faculty members and students of the College also paid obeisance at Gurudwara Chevin Patshahi, Gurusar Sadhar. Principal of the college Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha informed that the orientation programme for the above courses is already running since 28th September, 2022. He further added that students are taken to the Gurdwara Sahib every year before classes start formally. Guru Ka Langar was also organized on the occasion.
G.H.G. Khalsa Colleges Gurusar Sadhar commemorated 115th birth anniversary of Shaheed
Bhagat Singh as per the instructions of DPI (Colleges), Government of Punjab. The day was
jointly celebrated by the G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, G.H.G. Khalsa College, and
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Pharmacy. A bicycle rally was taken out by the students and teachers
at 7.00 am. This rally was flagged off from G.H.G. Khalsa College to G. H. G. Khalsa College of
Education and passing through Exchange Road, finally reached Degree College.
A special lecture related to the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh was organized at 11.00 on the
initiative of Punjabi Sahitya Sabha of the college, the topic of which was 'A Glimpse on the Life
of Shaheed Bhagat Singh'. Prof. Gurpreet Singh, Head of Punjabi Department, Govind National
College, Narangwal, Ludhiana, was the guest speaker on the occasion. Addressing the students,
Prof. Gurpreet Singh said that Bhagat Singh's life was greatly influenced by the social conditions
of that time. Bhagat Singh was a great reader; he believed that inequality can be eradicated only
through the power of knowledge. In response to a question, he said that religion is a personal
matter of a person. Religion teaches practical life, in which Bhagat Singh believed. Principal of
the college Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha while speaking on the occasion said that Bhagat Singh is the
name of an ideology. Dr. Garcha also expressed gratitude to the speaker of the day Prof.
Gurpreet Singh for throwing light on the ideology of S. Bhagat Singh.
A play called 'Sleeping Revolution' was staged by the theatre department of the college. S.
Manjit Singh Gill, President College Governing Council and Dr. S. S. Thind, Secretary College
Governing Council appreciated the efforts of faculty and the students for organizing the events.
B.Ed. students of G. H. G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar performed splendidly in the District Level Sports Competitions under “Khela Vatan Punjab Dian” held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana on September 22, 2022. Uttampreet Singh, a student of B.Ed. Semester III won Gold medal in Hockey. Uttampreet Singh has also been selected for the state level tournament. While Amandeep Kaur also a student of B.Ed. semester III won bronze medal in 800 meter race. Students of the College participated in the other sports events also. Parminder Singh took part in the Long Jump and Harmandeep Kaur competed in the 100 m race. College Governing Council President S. Manjit Singh Gill and Secretary Dr. S.S. Thind congratulated the winners as well as participants of the event. Internal quality Assurance Cell and Placement Cell of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education,
Gurusar Sadhar organized a Mega Campus Placement Drive in collaboration with District
Bureau of Employment and Enterprise, Ludhiana (Govt. of Punjab) on September 10, 2022.
Prominent recruiters Jatindera Greenfield School, Ghuman, Satya Bharti Foundation, GHG
Academy, Khandoor, Guru Hargobind Public School, Raqba, Dashmesh Khalsa Sen. Sec.
School, Heran and Camp Khalsa Sen. Sec. School, Mohie from Ludhiana District participated in
the placement drive. More than 35 students appeared for written test, interview and
demonstration of the selection criteria for different subjects viz. Science, English, Punjabi
Mathematics, Hindi, Social Studies, Physics, Biology, Music. Selected students were offered
placements by the recruiters.
Dr. S.S. Thind, Secretary College Governing Council congratulated Principal Dr. Pargat Singh
Garcha and the faculty members for the success of the mega placement drive. Principal Dr.
Pargat Singh Garcha extended sincere thanks to District Bureau of Employment and Enterprise,
Ludhiana and the participating schools for collaborating in the event. He also lauded the efforts
of the Placement Cell Incharges Dr. Manu Chadha and Dr. Rachhpal Singh for successfully
organizing the Placement Drive. Dr. Garcha further added that in the modern day competitive
world we require the professionals who have strong theoretical base along with thorough hands
on practical knowledge. He said that in future also the College will organize such type of mega
placement drives so that maximum students may be benefitted.
B.Ed. students of G. H. G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar
performed splendidly in the Block Level Sports Competition under “Khela Vatan
Punjab Dian” held at G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar. The students
participated in 21-40 age sports category. In Tug of War event the boys' team of
the College won the first position while the girls’ team secured second place in the
event. B. Ed Semester III student Harman Kaur won first position in athletics (100
meter race) while Amandeep Kaur secured first place in 800 meter race.
Parminder Singh and Kamaldeep Singh of B.Ed Semester III secured second
position in Long Jump and Hammer Throw respectively.
The winners at the Block Level competition will further compete at the district
level competitions. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College congratulated
Mr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, Instructor Physical Education in the College and all the
winners on this wonderful achievement. He also wished them good luck for
upcoming sports competition at district level.
Language Clubs of the G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a remarkable function to celebrate Teachers' Day on September 5th, 2022. The event began with recitation of the College Shabad followed by paying floral tributes to Dr. Sarvapalli Radha Krishnan and lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Jagjit Singh from Punjabi Sahitya Sabha of the College formally welcomed all the students and faculty members present on the occasion. A cultural programme was organized in which students of M.Ed IIIrd Semester gave a wonderful performance by sharing their views on the Teachers’ day in the form of poem recitations, power point presentations and speeches to highlight the importance of teachers in the life of students. Kiranpreet Kaur and Ekamjit Kaur enthralled the audience with their melodious song dedicated to the teachers. Juhi Yadav presented a very beautiful poem expressing her gratitude towards teachers. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college, through his speech acknowledged the role played by teachers in building the society. He said that our teachers constitute our most precious human resource as we look towards them to guide the children so that each one may become a person of character and develop into an upright citizen leading a life of dignity and self-respect. In order to help youngsters to showcase their talent and help in their overall development Panjab University, Chandigarh organizes Youth and Heritage Festival on an annual basis in different zones. A meeting of Principals and contingent in-charge of the Education colleges of Zone –B, chaired by Dr. Rohit Kumar Sharma, Director, Youth Welfare Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh was held at G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar Ludhiana on August 12, 2022 to finalize the host college and date of Zonal Youth Festival. At the outset Dr. Rachhpal Singh, Youth Festival Incharge in the College formally welcomed Dr. Rohit Kumar Sharma and all the representatives from the education Colleges of Zone-B. Dr. Rohit Kumar Sharma in his interaction invited suggestions from the participants for smooth conduct of the Festival. Regarding the preparation at University Level, Dr. Rohit elaborated that planning of Zonal and Interzonal Youth Festival at University level is going at a good pace and various committees have already been framed in this regard. Dr. Rohit Kumar Sharma stressed on the need of maximum participation of the students in the Youth and Heritage Festival so that they must be aware of their traditions and culture. It was unanimously decided in the meeting that S.D.S. College of Education for Women, Lopon will organize the Zonal Youth Festival of Zone B of Education Colleges from October 14- 16, 2022. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College presented vote of thanks at the end of the meeting.
Students and faculty of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar celebrated 75 th Independence Day with full fervour. A series of activities like Online Quiz, Slogan Writing and Poster Making competitions, best selfie with national flag competition, tree plantation drives etc. were organized jointly by literary clubs, Social Vision Club, Red Ribbon Club, NSS Unit and Fine Arts society of the college. The activities were organized to celebrate Iconic Week ( August 8-14,2022) as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and as per the directions of Department of Youth Welfare Services, Punjab and Department of Youth Affairs Govt. of India. In the slogan writing competition Ruby and Sara Karim won the first position while Daljit Kaur and Gurpreet were adjudged as the second and third winner. In Poster Making competition Prabhdeep Kaur secured the first position while Ramandeep Kaur and Amandeep Kaur bagged the second and third position respectively. In the selfie with national flag competition Ramandeep Kaur was declared as the winner. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College congratulated the students and faculty on the 75 th Independence Day and paid rich tribute to the national heroes and the freedom fighters as well as thousands of innocent people who sacrificed their lives to gain the independence. Dr. S.S Thind, Secretary College Governing Council congratulated the winners as well as the participants of the competitions. G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar in collaboration with North Zone Cultural
Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) and SDM office Raikot organized a cultural
Programme to commemorate Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign. Har Ghar Tiranga is a campaign
under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and
to hoist it to mark the 75 th Year of India’s Independence. The programme commenced with the
College Shabad followed by formal welcome of Guests by Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of
the College.
Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha in his address appreciated the efforts of Cultural Committee of the
College for organizing the event and further encouraged all the students, teachers and non-
teaching staff of the college to exhibit their national pride by hoisting the national flag at their
respective homes. The cultural team from North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala gave mesmerizing
performance on Rajasthani and Punjabi Folk Song, Kavishari etc. Dr. Som Pal Hira spell
bounded the audience with his performance in One Act Play on the Theme “Sarhada Haur Ve
Ne” which was presented by The Sirjana Art Group form Raikot. The dignitaries present on the
occasion included Mr. Gurnaib Singh, Principal Ajitsar Khalsa School, Jangpur, Dr. Harpreet
Singh, Principal G.H.G. Khalsa College, Dr. Satwinder Kaur, Principal G.H.G. Khalsa College
of Pharmacy, S. Jugraj Singh, Former Principal, G.H.G. Khalsa School, S. Navjot Singh Mander
and the faculty from sister institutes.
The faculty and students of B.Ed. and M.Ed.1 st year of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education,
Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana gave a fond send off to the B.Ed. and M.Ed. 2 nd year students by
organizing a farewell party on June 22, 2022. The hall of the college reverberated with
enthusiasm and gusto of the students. The programme commenced with the college prayer
followed by a cultural event in which the students performed songs, gazals, presented dances and
organised many games.
The grand cultural show presented by the students made the occasion incredible and lively. The
students of the outgoing class delivered speeches expressing gratitude to the mentor teachers for
their invaluable contribution in making this journey a memorable one. Ashutosh and Jaspreet
Kaur of B.Ed. 2 nd year were adjudged as the Mr. and Miss. Farewell .Dr Pargat Singh Garcha,
Principal of the College wished the students good luck for their future endeavors and advised
them that hard work, perseverance and dedication are the requisites for treading ahead.
Red Ribbon Club and NSS wing of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar celebrated World Environment Day by organizing poster making, e-poster making and PowerPoint Presentation competition. The competition was organized as per the directions of Asst. Director, Youth Welfare Services, Ludhiana. Dr. Manu Chadha, Incharge Red Ribbon Club of the college said that 45 students from 30 different colleges across the nation participated in the competition. Yogita Singh from Pushpanjali College of Education, Vaisai won first place in Power Point Presentation Competition. Harkiran Kaur, of the Host College and Gautam Jain, of Sri Atam Vallabh Jain College, Ludhiana came second and Diksha Sharma from Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana and Baldeep Singh, a student of B.C.M. College of Education, Ludhiana secured third place. Varsha, a student of Government State College of Education, Patiala, was given the appreciation Award. In the poster competition, Harmanjot Kaur from Paradise College of Education, Jalandhar bagged the first prize, Komal Mittal from Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana and Bawanpreet Kaur from Khalsa College of Education, Amritsar bagged the second and third prize respectively. In the e-poster making categoty Prerna Shukla from the Host College won the first prize while Anita from G.T.B. Khalsa College of Education, Dasuya won second prize. Asheeta and Himanshu from Paradise College of Education, Jalandhar and the Host College respectively won the third prize. Apart from this, Sakshi Sharma from Shivalik Hills College of Education and Khushnaseeb Rahanu from D. A.V. College of Education Hoshiarpur were given appreciation prizes. Dr. Jasleen Kaur and Dr. Rachpal Singh, Programme Officer NSS wing of the College said that as a part of the environment day celebration more than 30 students of the college donated plants to the College. The students have taken an oath that they will take care of their own plant as long as their stay in the College and after the completion of the degree, the responsibility of that plant will be given to the gardener. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha in his address congratulated the students and the faculty for organizing the event for the cause of environment. He also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, Physical Education instructor in the College for motivating the students for conducting tree plantation drive. He added that the main objective behind celebrating the event was to highlight the importance of the environment and remind the society that we should not take the nature for granted.
In order to spread awareness related to tremendous health and environmental benefits of cycling, Red Ribbon Club and N.S.S. wing of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar celebrated World Bicycle Day with great enthusiasm on June 03, 2022. Every year, On June 3 the world celebrates 'World Bicycle Day' to raise awareness about cycling and its benefits on health and mental wellbeing. The students of B.Ed and M. Ed classes enjoyed the bicycle ride in their locality and displayed posters to encourage people for more and more use of bicycle in their day today life. This year the theme of this special day is “Celebrating the Affordable Route to Sustainability”. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty to celebrate the World Bicycle Day for the cause of environment. He further added that riding a bicycle is healthy, fun, and a low-impact form of exercise for all ages. He said that cycling is easy to fit into one’s daily routine by riding to the park, neighbourhood shop, or workplace etc. He encouraged the students and faculty to adopt the good practice of cycling in their daily life in order to enjoy good health and to contribute towards the sustainable environment.
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar observed “World No Tobacco Day” as per
the directions of Asst. Director, Department of Youth Welfare Services, Ludhiana. World No
Tobacco is observed every year on 31st May, to raise awareness on harmful and deadly effects of
tobacco and discourage its use in any form. This year the theme of World No Tobacco Day 2022
is “Tobacco: Threat to our Environment”. In order to observe the day, N.S.S Wing and Red
Ribbon Club of the College organized a special lecture and poster making competition on the
theme “Say No to Tobacco”. In the awareness lecture, Mr. Rahul, Ms. Simranpreet Kaur and Mr.
Kulwinder Singh from CHC Sadhar appraised the students about the harmful effects of smoking
and other tobacco products. They further said that there is a dire need to make the society aware
about this deadly product. They urged the students to make the people in their vicinity aware
about the noxious effects of Tobacco use. A community campaign was also held to mark the day
where students of B.Ed. and M.Ed. educated the people in their surrounding areas regarding the
ill effects of tobacco and the ways to get rid of its use. Dr. H.S Brar, Former Principal of the
College was present on the occasion along with the faculty members and the students. Dr. Jagjit
Singh, Asst. Prof. in the college extended vote of thanks at the end of the lecture.
In the poster making competition, Sumandip Kaur and Shefali Mehra were awarded with the
first prize while Ramanpreet Kaur and Ramandeep Kaur secured the second position. Manjot
Kaur and Kiranjit Kaur got third position in the competition. Dr, Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal
of the College appreciated the efforts of NSS Wing and Red Ribbon Club for observing the day.
He also congratulated the Coordinators Dr. Manu Chadha, Dr. Jasleen Kaur and Dr. Rachhpal
Singh for organizing the various events dedicated to World No Tobacco Day.
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a workshop on Intellectual
Property Rights (IPR) and Patents Fillings on May 27, 2022. The workshop was organized in
collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management
(RGNIIPM), Govt. of India, Nagpur. Dr. Bharat N Suryawanshi, Asst. Controller, of patents and
designs, RGNIIPM, Nagpur was the resource person on the occasion. The lecture commenced by
seeking blessings from Almighty in the form of College Prayer. Dr. Jagjit Singh, Asst. Prof. in
the College shared the objectives of the workshop and presented a formal welcome to the
resource person of the day.
Dr. Bharat started his lecture by giving a detail explanation about the term Intellectual Property
Rights (IPR) and Patent. He made the participants aware about the difference between Invention
and Discovery. Dr. Bharat discussed about the most common mistakes committed by an inventor
in the process of filling for patent. While further elaborating about the theme of the workshop Dr.
Bharat said that a single product can be protected by more than one IPR. He also discussed about
the Patent Grant Procedure in detail. The Role of IPR and Patent System was elaborated by Dr.
Bharat by saying that it is helpful in encouragement for improvement of technology, making
profits or earning royalty through putting the invention into practice and providing rewards as
exclusive rights for disclosure. More than 200 participants including the faculty and students
from the college participated in the workshop. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College
congratulated the coordinators Dr. Ramandeep Kaur and Dr. Jagjit Singh for successfully
organizing the workshop.
Red Ribbon Club and NSS Wing of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar
organized an extension lecture to mark the Anti-terrorism Day which is observed on May 21
every year. Mr. Rohit Sharma, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Political Science, Arya College, Ludhiana
was resource person on the occasion. At the outset Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the
college, Dr. Manu Chadha, Incharge Red Ribbon Club of the college, Dr. Rachhpal Singh and
Dr. Jasleen Kaur, NSS Programme Officers presented a bouquet of flowers to the resource
person of the day. Dr. Manu Chadha also shared a brief resume of Mr. Rohit Sharma with the
students. Later on Harkiran Kaur of B.Ed 2 nd year led the students and faculty for taking the
pledge for promotion of peace and harmony in the society and condemnation of all forms of
violence and terrorism.
Mr. Rohit Sharma commenced his lecture by showing a video on the theme of the lecture. Mr.
Rohit further through his presentation elaborated on the origin of terrorism, the motives and
consequences of terrorism including drug terrorism. He encouraged the students to fight against
anti-social activities and terrorism. He also emphasized the role played by youth to make the
society free from violence and thereby safeguard the interest of common people. Vote of thanks
was presented by Dr. Rachhpal Singh at the end of the lecture. Students of M.ED and B.Ed 1 st
and 2 nd year along with faculty members were present on the occasion.
Red Ribbon Club of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar in collaboration with
Madam Marie Curie Science Club organized a special Lecture on May 18, 2022 to mark World
Thalassemia Day. World Thalassemia Day is observed every year on May 8 to increase
awareness about this disease among common public. The theme for this year’s activities was ‘Be
Aware, Share, Care: Working with the Global Community As One To Improve Thalassemia
Knowledge’.
The lecture was organized as per the directions of Youth Welfare Services, Ludhiana. Dr. Manu
Chadha, Associate Prof. in the college and incharge Red Ribbon Club through her lecture made
the students as well as faculty aware about “Thalassemia” which is an inherited disorder caused
due to mutation in DNA, as a result of which a person suffers from haemolytic anaemia i.e. loss
of healthy RBC’s in bloodstream. She highlighted the various solutions to cure this disorder
which include providing less iron diet to the patients and regular blood transfusions. She further
told that healthy diet and regular exercise may also be of great help in this regard. Dr. Pargat
Singh Garcha, Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of Red Ribbon Club and the
Madam Marie Curie Club for creating awareness about this disease. Students of B.Ed. and M.Ed.
1st and 2nd year along with the faculty members were present on the occasion.
The English, Hindi and Punjabi language department of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a poem recitation event under the Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat Campaign. The theme of the event was “Hasda Punjab Mera Khuab”. At the outset, Dr. Mini Sharma, Nodal officer for the Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat Campaign in the college, threw light on the objectives of the campaign. In the poem recitation event, Prerna Shukla of B.Ed 2 nd year recited a beautiful poem on the theme “Kurbani Di Dharti Punjab”, while another student Jaspreet Kaur of B.Ed 2 nd year recited the poem with the theme “Sohna Desh Punjab” which is a self-composed poem of another student Happy Sohal. Ashutosh of B.Ed 2 nd year described the wonderful culture of Punjab through his poem “Punjab”. Tanvi of B.Ed 1 st year shared her views on the “Vartman Punjab” through her poem .Gagandeep Kaur another student of B.Ed. 1 st year also shared the vivid picture of the geography and culture of Punjab through her composition on the topic “Mera Punjab”. Students of B.Ed. and M.Ed. 1 st and 2 nd year along with the faculty members enthusiastically took part in this poetical event. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College congratulated the English Literary Society, Punjabi and Hindi Shatiya Sabha of the college for successfully organizing the event.
The Research Cell of GHG Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a 7 days
Value added course on “Basics of Research: Writing Research Proposal & Thesis Writing” from
May 4-11, 2022 through blended mode. The purpose of this course was to familiarize the
students in detail with nuances of research and to widen their educational experience. This Value
Added Course was designed in a systematic manner whereby all important aspects of writing a
Research Proposal and Thesis writing were deliberated upon. A panel of experts was arranged
who took the details of all the essential areas of research writing.
In the first session of the Course, Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal, GHG Khalsa College of
Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana deliberated on the topic "Selection of Research Problem
and Preparation for Research Proposal". He elaborated the Basic Components of Research
(problem, activity, systematic, scientific, process, solution).
Session II of the value added course witnessed deliberations by Dr. Yogesh Sharma, Associate
Professor, Ramgarhia College of Education, Phagwara on the topic" Framing Research
Objectives and Hypotheses". He threw light on the concept of research objectives and research
questions.
In the third session, Dr. Anshu Narad, Associate Professor, Lovely Professional University,
Phagwara interacted with the students on the topic "Styles of References with special reference
to APA". She made students familiar with terms like APA Style, Plagiarism, Academic Integrity,
Documentation etc.
In the fourth session, Dr. Tarlok Bandhu, Principal, Khalsa College of Education, Sri Muktsar,
Sahib pondered upon the topic "Review of literature: online and offline resources". Resource
person took the entire audience in the pool of online resources by giving examples of many
websites like Shodhganga, Research gate, PU Library, JNU Library, Ambedkar University Delhi,
National Institute of educational Planning and administration and Azim Premji Library etc. In the
5th session of the Value Added Course, Dr. Mohua Khosla, Associate Prof., Malwa College of
Education, Ludhiana shared her expertise on the topic "Sampling Techniques and data

English Literary Society of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar celebrated English Language Day on April 23, 2022 which is traditionally observed as the birth and death anniversary of William Shakespeare -a famous English playwright, poet and actor. The celebration was organized at Govt. High Smart School, Aitiana, Ludhiana and Dashmesh Khalsa Sr. Sec. School Heran in order to inform students about the history, culture and achievements associated with English language. Students of B.Ed 1 st year organized a special programme for the school students dedicated to the English Language. Tanvi Sharma and Kuljeet Kaur, B.Ed. students of the college shared historical background of celebrating English language day while Rajdeep Kaur, discussed the life history of William Shakespeare. Aashdeep Kaur delivered a speech on the literary work of William Shakespeare and highlighted that his work left an indelible impact on English Language and his insurmountable contribution to the field of literature played a key role in popularizing the language. Students of both the schools also participated in the language games organized by Manjot Kaur, Deepali, Lovepreet Singh, Kamalpreet Kaur and Manpreet Kaur (B.Ed. students). Dr. Mini Sharma, Assistant professor in the college and Head, English Literary Society while addressing the students suggested ways to improve the communication skills in English language. G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized its Annual Prize Distribution and
farewell function on April 9, 2022 under the able guidance of Principal, Dr. Pargat Singh
Garcha. The event was graced by Mrs. Saravjit Kaur Manuke, Member of Punjab Legislative
Assembly, Jagraon as Chief Guest. The function commenced with the recitation of College
Shabad. A warm and hearty welcome was extended by Principal Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha to the
Chief Guest and the other guests present on the occasion which was followed by presentation of
college report in which he highlighted the achievement of students in academics, sports and
cultural arena.
Prizes for academic, co-curricular and sports achievements were distributed among the students
for the session 2020-21, 2021-22. A cultural programme was also organized on the occasion in
which students of B.Ed and M.Ed gave mesmerizing performance on the group dance and
singing events.
In his presidential address, Mrs. Saravjit Kaur Manuke congratulated the young achievers and
wished them best of luck by saying that the responsibility of spreading education lies on their
shoulder .She further said that the a teacher is a role model for his/her students and there is no

One Day Workshop on the Theme “Theatre in Education” was organized by the Performing Arts
Department of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar on April 06, 2022. Dr.
Smriti Bharadwaj, Head Department of Performing Arts, Lovely Professional University,
Phagwara was resource person on the occasion. Dr. Smriti while sharing her views on the role of
education in theatre said that drama is not merely an activity which is performed by a specialist
performer to entertain or preach people in its traditional sense. However it can also be used as an
effective teaching-learning medium which help to engage students at physical, emotional, mental
and social levels, simultaneously. She further elaborated that theatre helps children to overcome
inhibitions and help them express themselves and their aspiration without any fear.
On this occasion, Mr. Gurmeet Singh from Performing Arts Department of the College gave a
mesmerizing performance on one act play. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College
while extending vote of thanks said that the aim of the workshop was to orient and promote the
use of theatre as an important teaching -learning medium and equipping the students with the
tools of dramatic expressions which can be used for pedagogical purposes. He also congratulated
the Department of Performing Arts of the College for organizing this wonderful event. The event
concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
G.H.G. Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar in collaboration with Language Department
Ludhiana, celebrated the World Theatre Day in the college campus by organising an interactive
talk by the famous T.V. and Film Actor, Radio artist, Writer, Poet - Dr. Satish Kumar Verma,
Former Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala. The Guest of Honor for the celebrations was Dr.
Nirmal Johra, Director Youth Welfare Department, Panjab University Chandigarh. The event
was facilitated by Dr. Sandeep Sharma, District Education Officer who formally introduced the
Resource person to the young audience while Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college
extended a floral and formal welcome to Dr. Satish Kumar Verma and other eminent guests S.
Jasmer Dhatt(Organizer, Miss World Punjaban), Dr. H.S. Brar, (Former Principal), Dr. Harpreet
Singh (Principal, GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar) and S. Gurnaib Singh, Principal Sen.
Sec School Jangpur who graced the occasion. Dr. Jagjit Singh(Asst. Prof.) conducted the stage
for the event.
This event titled “Rubaru” was an exclusive and a lifetime opportunity for the student
teachers to meet, listen and learn from a ‘Man of Real Substance’. Dr. Kumar addressed the
future teachers with an enlivening lecture in which he shared his concerns about the status of
women in Indian society. He talked about women being the epitome of wisdom and
intuitiveness, he gave real life examples of heroic deeds of women and how women have always
protected and provided for man’s needs in her different roles of a mother, wife, sister and a
daughter. Dr. Verma boldly criticized the male chauvinistic tendencies and called out the young
men to treat their female counter parts not only as equals, but superior to them. Dr.Verma’s
motivational address was full of narratives from his own experiences of life which he presented
in a manner that the audience was glued to their chairs for the entire discourse.
Dr. Verma advised the youth to make the best of their lives and use their time judiciously.
“Time” he remarked was the most valuable asset of a human being. Every statement made by
him was a quotation to be recorded and shared with the future generation. He strongly opined
that females were born empowered and if the Indian Society and mankind at large has to dwell,
develop and prosper it has to free the women from the shackles of male ego and false social
norms.
Summing up his enriching pearls of exquisite wisdom he advised the young men and women
to follow the ideals laid by Guru Nanak, whom he also idolized in his life. He asked the youth to
invest and save in “Social Banking” which could give unparallel dividends of satisfaction and
contentment. A brief question answer round was also organized at the conclusion of his lecture.
Dr. Satish Kumar Verma left an indelible mark on the minds of the youth and gave them a food
for thought for their lives to come.
Dr. Nirmal Johra, Director Youth Welfare Department, Panjab University Chandigarh also
expressed his views on the occasion and extended his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Verma for sharing
his repertoire of wisdom, knowledge and practical experiences with the audience.
Muhavaredar vartalap presented by the students of B.Ed and M.Ed and a one act play acted,
directed and executed by Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Assistant Prof. of the college added the cultural
and theatrical flavor to the celebrations, further enhancing the meaning of the “World Theater
Day”.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Satwinder Kaur, Principal, GHG
Khalsa College of Pharmacy, Gurusar Sadhar, followed by the customary singing of National
Anthem by the college group singing team which marked the end of the show.
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a special morning assembly, poster making competition and blood donation camp to commemorate the martyrdom of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru. The assembly was organized by the mentor group “I” under the mentorship of Dr. Mini Sharma, Asst. Prof. in the college. All the students of B.Ed and M.Ed took part in the morning assembly which witnessed the presentations of inspirational speeches and poem recitations dedicated to the life of great martyr Bhagat Singh. Abinash Kaur of B.Ed 2 nd year gave a motivational speech on Sarvodaya Day where she provided a glimpse of the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his great contribution in the India’s struggle for freedom. Varun of B.Ed 1 st year recited a beautiful poem dedicated to the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. On this occasion all the students and faculty members took pledge to work to promote harmony, goodwill and peace in the world. The pledge was orated by Prerna Shukla of B.Ed 2nd year. A poster making competition on the theme Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh was organized by the N.S.S. wing of the college under the able guidance of Programme Officers Dr. Jasleen Kaur, Dr. Rachhpal Singh and Dr. Davinder Kaur Dhatt, Art instructor in the college. A blood donation camp was also organized on the occasion. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college in his address to the students highlighted that the sacrifices made by our great martyrs will always be remembered by the generations to come. He further added that we need to remember the teachings of our great freedom fighters and should apply the same in our life.
As a mark of tribute in the memory of Former President of College Governing Council, Late. Mr.
Bakhtawar Singh Gill, a commemoration day was celebrated with great devotion and
enthusiasm by Guru Hargobind Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar on March 17, 2022. An inter-
college Gurbani Gayan competitions, free medical checkup and blood donation camp were also
organized. After the bhog of Akhand Path Sahib the students of the Department of Music
enthralled the sangat with Gurbani Kirtan. Later Gurbani Gayan competitions were conducted
in which teams from different colleges participated. The team of Guru Hargobind Khalsa
College, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana, the team of Master Tara Singh Memorial College, Ludhiana
and the team of Ramgarhia Girls College, Ludhiana, got the first, second third positions
respectively. Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Gujarkhan Campus, Ludhiana and Guru Hargobind
Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar secured the fourth and fifth places respectively. In
the individual section, Jaspreet Kaur, Ramgarhia Girls College, Ludhiana achieved the first
position, Simrandeep Kaur, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Gujrkhan Campus, Ludhiana got the
second and Jasleen Kaur, Master Tara Singh Memorial College, Ludhiana secured the third
place. Dr. Charankamal Singh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, Charankamal
Singh said that the real religion is the social service and Mr. Bakhtawar Singh Gill earned this
true religion in his lifetime by making invaluable contribution in the society through these
educational institutions.
In the free medical checkup camp, the teams of Dr. Harpreet Singh (M.S. Surgery), Dr. Avinash
Jindal (M.D. Medicine) and Davinder Singh (M.D. Orthopedic) examined 253 patients and
provided free medicines to those in need. The Blood Donation Camp was set up under the
leadership of Dr. Sahil Basal in which 64 students contributed by donating the blood.
The winners of the competition and other service personnel were honored with trophies. Dr.
Pargat Singh Garcha presented a vote of thanks. Among others, Sardarni Mohinder Kaur Gill,
President of College Governing Council, Mr. Manjit Singh Gill, Former Principal, Dr. Swaranjit
Singh Deol, Dr. Balwinderpal Singh and Dr. Harjinder Singh Brar were also present on the
occasion.
Students of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar brought laurels to the college
by performing well in Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) examination. The test was
conducted in December, 2021. 17 students of the college from the current batch have passed the
Test which is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education for appointment as
teachers. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha congratulated the students on this wonderful achievement and
mentioned that their achievement will act as an inspiration for their fellow students.
Dr. Garcha dedicated this spectacular achievement to the work hard put by the faculty members
as well as students. He further added that College in collaboration with Bombay Teachers’
Training College, Mumbai is providing coaching to the students of B.Ed for PTET/CTET
examination to help them for better professional perspectives in teaching. It is worth mentioning
that college made use of various online platforms like Learning Management System, Zoom,
Google Classroom and Whatsapp etc. for providing academic instructions and evaluating
students due to the Covid-19 situation.

organized by Alumni Association of the college under the patron ship of Dr. Pargat Singh
Garcha, Principal of the college. At the commencement of the event, Dr. Rachhpal Singh,
Working Secretary of the Alumni Association of the college presented a brief report of the
achievements of the Alumni Association to the audience.

Rajpal Singh, Chief Coordinator, Sri Sahaj Path Seva, Amritsar was resource person on the occasion. The event commenced with the singing of College Shabad. Dr. Jasvir Kaur, Incharge, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle wing of the college and Dr Jagjit Singh from Punjabi Department accorded a warm welcome to the resource person of the day. S. Rajpal Singh in his interaction with the students stressed on the need of having courage, confidence and satisfaction in life for the development of right personality. He further highlighted that teachers need to inculcate positive attitude among the students in order to help them in effective personality development. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college while extending vote of thanks remarked that the lecture was a true blend of moral, ethical and motivational thoughts and it will help the students in their future perspectives as a teacher. He also appreciated the efforts put by S. Rajpal Singh for serving the society selflessly. An exhibition of spiritual books was also organized in the college library on this occasion.
GHG Khalsa Colleges organized a seminar on Women Empowerment on March 08, 2022 at GHG Khalsa College Gurusar Sadhar (Ludhiana). At the beginning, the Guest Speaker, Mrs. Harjot Kaur Gambhir, Managing Director of 'Delicious Bites' Pvt. Ltd. was welcomed with bouquet by Principal of GHG Khalsa College, Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal of GHG Khalsa College of Pharmacy, Dr. Satwinder Kaur and Principal of GHG Khalsa College of Education, Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha. In his address, Dr. Harpreet singh highlighted the pivotal role of women in the society. Mrs. Harjot Kaur shared her life experience of being an entrepreneur in her lecture. She threw light on the woman's sense of self - worth and ability to determine her own choices. Dr. Pargat singh Garcha, in his speech, encouraged the students to come forward and pursue their desired goals and support the other girls to achieve theirs as well. Dr. Satvinder Kaur presented a vote of thanks and marked the contribution of women in every phase of life. The convener of event was Ms. Shikha Jain. The stage was conducted by Ms. Vishavpreet Kaur. Diljot Kaur, student of B.Ed 2 nd Year of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education,
Gurusar Sadhar brought laurels to the college at All India Inter University
Rowing Championship. The championship is being organized at Sukhna Lake,
Chandigarh by Directorate of Sports, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Diljot
Kaur who is an outstanding rower, clinched three Gold Medal and two silver
medal in the championship.

Diljot Kaur and guidance by Dr. Baljinder Singh. He said that this achievement

Social Vision Club of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar celebrated National
Voters’ Day and 73 rd Republic Day on 25th, January 2022 with gaiety and patriotic fervor. An
online celebration was organized for the same due to Covid- 19 restrictions. At the outset, Dr.
Jasleen Kaur, Incharge Social Vision Club presented welcome speech to all the faculty members
and the students. A cultural programme was organized by the students of B.Ed and M.Ed on this
occasion which commenced with the recitation of College Shabad followed by virtual flag
hoisting ceremony. Rajandeep Kaur of M.Ed Semester I delivered a speech on the topic
“Significance of Celebrating Voters’ day” while Prerna Shukla, Tanvi and Himansh recited
beautiful poems on the theme “Patriotism”. Sumandeep Kaur and Jaspal Singh shared their views
on the theme “Fundamental Rights” and “Republic Day” respectively. Simranjot Kaur of B.Ed
Semester III sang a beautiful song “Aye Vatan” and filled the atmosphere with the feeling of
patriotism. Palak of B.Ed Semester I delivered a speech on the topic “Democracy – Boon or
Bane and Gurpreet Kaur of B.Ed Semester I presented her views on “Constitution of India”.
Happy Sohal of B.Ed Semester III also enthralled the audience with his melodious song
dedicated to Republic day. Juhi of M.Ed Semester I highlighted the fact as to why we celebrate
26 th January as the Republic day. Dr. Manu Chadha, Associate Prof. in the college told the
students about the Hand Written Constitution written by Sh. Prem Bihari Narayan Rayzada.
Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college inspired the students with his motivational
words at the end of the event and encouraged them to abide by the constitution and fulfill all

Students and the faculty members of the G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar,
Ludhiana celebrated festival of Lohri with a lot of exuberance on January 13 th , 2022. A special
morning assembly was organized through online mode on the occasion. This online celebration
was joined by the students of B.Ed as well as M.Ed classes. Students sang folk songs related with
the festival and delivered speeches on the importance of the festival of Lohri, which ushers in the
cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter. Gurmeet Kaur of B.Ed Semester III
recited a beautiful poem dedicated to the festival while Pawandeep Kaur of B.Ed Semester III
shared her views on the Importance of celebrating the Lohri Festival. Ramanpreet Kaur and
Gagandeep Kaur of B.Ed Semester I presented the historical importance of celebrating the
festival of Lohri and Maghi respectively.
In the afternoon, faculty of the college celebrated the Lohri Festival by lighting the bonfire and
performing traditional ritual of “Lohri Poojan." They enjoyed the Lohri delicacies of rewaries,
groundnuts and sweets. Principal Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha congratulated the entire faculty and
the students for organizing the event with full fervor.
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized National Mathematics Day on
29 December, 2021 to mark the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, the great
mathematical genius who made exemplary contribution in the field of Mathematics. As a part of
the celebration, a cultural programme, video making and e-poster making competitions were
organized by the Ramanujan Club of the college. Prof. Anjana Kumari, from Post Graduate
Dept. of Mathematics, G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar was chief guest on the occasion.
In the cultural programme, Simarjeet Kaur of B. Ed Semester I delivered a speech on the Life
Sketch of Srinivasa Ramanujan while another student from B.Ed Semester I Ms. Amandeep
Kaur expressed her views on the "Importance of Celebrating Mathematics Day".
Ramandeep Kaur through her speech discussed the "Relationship of Mathematics with other
Subjects". Gurjinder Singh discussed the "Importance of Mathematics in Daily Life". The
students participated in the programme with great zeal and enthusiasm. Dr. Rachhpal Singh,
Incharge Ramanujan Club while interacting with the students said that the Mathematics day is
celebrated with an objective of creating awareness about importance of mathematics in day to
day life situations and also to create students interest in studying the Mathematics. Dr. Pargat
Singh Garcha, Principal of the college congratulated and appreciated the efforts of Ramanujan
Club and encouraged the students to participate in such activities in future as well.
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized an extension lecture on the topic "Best Practices in Internship" on December 27, 2021. The lecture was organized in collaboration with Bombay Teachers' Training College, Mumbai- a constituent college of HSNC University, Mumbai under the faculty exchange programme. Dr. Mandeep Kochar, Vice Principal and Associate Prof. Bombay Teachers' Training College, Mumbai was the resource person on the occasion. The lecture commenced with the formal welcome of the resource person by Dr. Mini Sharma , Asst. Prof. in the college. Dr. Mandeep Kochar in her address to the students shared that online mode of teaching-learning has a lot of potential but she cautioned that the teachers as well as the students must be aware of real meaning of online mode of education. She advised the faculty and students that the challenges in online mode of education must be overcome in order to reap its real benefit. She further highlighted that Digital Smartness is the watchword in this era of online education. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college presented formal vote of thanks at the end of the lecture. Dr. H.S. Brar, former Principal of the college was also present on the occasion. The lecture was attended by the students of B.Ed and M.Ed along with faculty members.
Social Vision Club of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar celebrated Constitution Day on November 26th , 2021 in the college campus. A cultural programme was organized on the occasion. Students of B.Ed and M.Ed Sem I & III participated in the programme with full enthusiasm. The programme started with the reading of preamble by all the students and the faculty members. Simranjot Kaur, B.Ed student of the college gave a speech on the topic "Importance of Celebrating National Constitution Day." Happy Sohal of B.Ed recited a motivational poem dedicated to the constitution day. Dr. Jasvir Kaur, incharge Social vision Club while appraising the students about the Indian Constitution highlighted its main features. B.Ed Semester III students of the college who are on their internship practice also celebrated Constitution Day in their respective schools under the guidance of their incharges. While interacting with the students he advised them to be aware of the values of the constitution for the betterment of the society.
Students of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education has once again proved their mettle in the Panjab University Interzonal Youth and Heritage Festival held at A.S. College , Khanna from December 14-18, 2021. College student Jaskiran Kaur of M.Ed Semester III and Parminder Singh of B.Ed Semester I won first prize in Essay Writing and Rassa Vatna event respectively. While Prabhjot Kaur of B.Ed Sem I got second prize in Chikku making and Nisha Rani of B.Ed Semester III won 3 rd prize in Mitti de Khidone making competition. Students who had excelled in 12 zones where nearly 200 colleges affiliated to Panjab university Chandigarh took part, participated at this interzonal level event. It is worth mentioning that earlier this month college won overall trophy in Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival by winning 62 prizes. Students who won first prizes at the Interzonal level will participate in the intervarsity level Youth and Heritage Festival. College Principal Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha congratulated the students and faculty members on this marvelous achievement. He further added that G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education has always been committed towards all round development of the students.
Students and faculty of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a special assembly to commemorate Human Rights Day on December 10, 2021. Social Vision Club of the college under the able leadership of Dr. Jasvir Kaur and Dr. Jasleen Kaur organized the assembly to make the students aware of the objectives of celebrating the Human Rights day. Dr. Jasleen Kaur while interacting with the students told that on this day in 1948, the United Nation's General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Day. She also told that this year the theme of celebrating human rights day is "Equality, Reducing Inequalities, Advancing Human Rights. Simranjot Kaur of B.Ed Semester III and Kirandeep Kaur of M.Ed Semester I delivered speech on the topic "An Introduction to Human Rights" and "Importance of Celebrating Human Rights" respectively. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College stressed that Human Rights are necessary to provide every human the basic dignity to live.
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar secured overall third place in Women's section as Ms. Pallavi Sejwal, Student of B.Ed Semester I of the college won Seven medals in Panjab University Intercollege Aquatics Competition organized by Directorate of Sports, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 6-7, December, 2021. She got four Gold Medals in 100,200,400 Freestyle and 200 butterfly categories. Pallavi also won one silver medal in 100 mts butterfly and two bronze in 50 mts. butterfly and breaststroke categories. It is worth mentioning that Ms. Pallavi Sejwal though a student of Education college has competed as a professional in Division "A" category of colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College applauded the achievement of Ms. Pallavi Sejwal and guidance by Dr. Baljinder Singh. He said that it is a proud moment for the college. Four-day Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage festival of Education Zone-B commenced
at G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana on December 04,2021. Over
700 participants from 22 educational colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh from
Education Zone-B are competing in over 63 events at the festival, which is being organised after
two years due to Covid restrictions. The theme of the festival is "Love and Respect Nature".
S. Sakatar Singh Bal, PCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Office, Ludhiana and Ms. Randhir
Kaur, Deputy Commissioner State Taxation was Chief Guest in the inaugural and second session
respectively of day one of the youth festival. Mr. Navjeet Singh (PCS) was Guest of Honour.
The event was inaugurated with a lamp lighting ceremony where the chief guest S. Sakatar Singh
Bal , Dr. S.S. Thind, Secretary, College Governing Council and the Principals of various colleges
lit the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college presented formal
welcome to all the guests present on the occasion. While addressing the students and the
participants S. Satkar Singh stressed that for inculcating moral values among students and for
their psychological wellbeing conducting such events is need of the hour. The inaugural day of
the festival witnessed spectacular performances in musical events including Group Shabad,
Bhajan, Group Singing (Indian), Folk song, classical music vocal, Gazal, Geet, instrumental
music (Indian), Percussion and non-percussion, orchestra, folk instruments and group folk
orchestra. Besides this student also competed in various events related to art including on the
spot painting, photography, Collage Making, Clay Modeling, Rangoli, Poster Making,
Cartooning and Still Life Drawing. The dignitaries present on the occasion included Dr. J.S Brar,
Dr. H.S. Brar, Dr. S.S. Deol, Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu and S. Hardeep Gill.
G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized its annual Alumni meet on November 13, 2021. More than 150 alumni attended the event to relive college years and reconnect with their Alma Mater. The meet was organized by Alumni Association of the college under the patron ship of Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college and Prof. Rachhpal Singh, Working Secretary of the Alumni Association of the college. S. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Eminent Poet was Chief Guest on the occasion. The event started with the singing of college Shabad followed by formal welcome of the chief Guest and the alumni by Dr. Rachhpal Singh. A poetical event was organized on the occasion in which the alumni of the college recited self- composed poems and enthralled the audience with their melodious compositions. S. Prabhjot Sohi, Mr. Tarlochan Lochi, Mr.Harbans Malwa, Mr. Rajdeep Toor, Mr. Manjinder Dhanoa, Mr. Raninder Ravi., Mr. Ranjit Hatoor, Mr. Gurjit Sahota, Mr. Yashji Nakodri, Mr. Rajinder Jind and Mr. Jagjit Kafir shared their beautiful compositions with the audience. S. Santokh Singh Gill, President, Alumni Association of the college presented a brief report of the achievements of the Alumni Association to the audience. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha while presenting vote of thanks expressed his gratitude to the alumni association for generating funds, which are used by college for helping needy students. The alumni of the college shared their experiences as well as interesting moments of campus life with the audience. G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized one day N.S.S camp on October 13, 2021 in the college campus. All the students of the college participated in the camp under the able guidance of Programme Officers Dr. Jasleen Kaur and Dr. Rachhpal Singh. The camp was organized with the objectives to develop personality of students through participation in community work as well as competence required for group living and sharing responsibilities. A Cleanliness drive was organized on the occasion in which the volunteers cleaned the college campus including classrooms, staff room, College Hall, Parking area and various labs of the college. All the students participated in the camp with full enthusiasm. A motivational lecture was also organized for the students of B.Ed Semester III as a part of the two week long Pre- practice internship Programme in the morning session, where Mr. Gurnaib Singh, Principal Ajitsar Sr. Sec. School, Jangpur provided valuable inputs to the students on various aspects of good teaching. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college congratulated the NSS Wing of the college for the successful organization of the camp. B.Ed students of the G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana brought laurels to the college by performing well in the Semester I examinations conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh in May 2021. Pooja Verma secured 425 out of 450 marks (94.40%) and stood first in the college. Simranjot Kaur with 423 marks (94%) stood second in the college while Nisha Rani with 420 marks (93.30%) secured third position in the college. Out of total 98 students of B.Ed Semester I, 65 students secured more than 80% marks and all the students passed with first division. College Governing Council President S. B.Ed students of the G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana proved their mettle in the Semester IV examinations(2019-21) conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. The examinations were held in the month of August 2021. Jaskiran Kaur secured 7 th position in the university and stood first in the college by obtaining 1480 marks out of 1600 (92.50 %) while Manpreet Kaur secured second position in the college with 1473 marks (92.06 %). Bindia Jhanji with 1438 marks (89.87%) stood third in the college. Out of 75 students of the B.Ed Sem IV 32 students secured more than 80% marks, while 39 students secured marks between 70%-80%. Besides this all the students passed with first division. College Governing Council President S. A series of activities like Online Quiz, Essay Writing, Slogan Writing, and Poster Making competitions were organized by the Punjabi Sahitya Sabha, Blue Bells English Literary Society, Social Vision Club and Fine Arts Department of the college. In the category of Essay Writing (Punjabi) Khushboo of Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Basti Jodhewal Ludhiana secured the first position, while Komalpreet Kaur of Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Hargobindpur, Ludhiana bagged second position. The third position was shared by Kanwardeep Singh of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar and Rajinder Kaur of Vidya Rattan College for Women, Khokhar Kalan, Sangrur. In the second Category of Essay Writing (English) Pawandeep Kaur of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana secured the first position. Second position for this category was bagged by Inderpreet Kaur while the third position was secured by Himanshu Gharu of D.A.V. College of Education, Hoshiarpur and Anusuia of D.A.V. College of Education, Abohar. In poster making competition Loveleen Pathak of G.C.G. College and Sonam of Public Collegiate Sr. Sec. School, Samana won the first position while Rishika Sharma of D.D. Jain College of Education, Ludhiana and Poonam Kumari of G.T.B Khalsa College of Education were adjudged second. Third position for the poster making competition was bagged jointly by Anita Kumari of Guru Nanak College of Education, Dhalewal and Shaini George of G.C.G. College. In Slogan writing competition Rajneet Kaur and Monika Kundal of B.C.M College of Education, Ludhiana secured the first position while Ruchika Singh of D.D. Jain College of Education, Ludhiana and Kanwalpreet Kaur of Rayat College of Education bagged the second position. Shemsher Singh of Layalpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar and Reena Rani bagged the third position in the poster making competition. In quiz competition a total of 693 students of various colleges and schools of Punjab took part. N.S.S. wing of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, GurusarSadhar, organized various activities to celebrate SwachhtaPakhwarafrom August 1- 15, as per directions of NSS Directorate, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India. Dr. JasleenKaur andDrRachhpal Singh, NSS Programme officers created an awareness among NSS volunteers about the programmeand its usefulness through the zoom platform on August 5, 2021. They were also made aware about the various activities to be organized at individual and societal level to spread awareness on the health benefits of cleanliness. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college talked to the volunteers about hygiene and sanitation and motivated them to participate in the activities wholeheartedly.
Students were given an outline of various activities which had to be conducted under the scheme. They were encouraged to take the swachhta pledge through online link generated by the government. 51 NSS volunteers and both the Programme Officers undertook the pledge.
Host of activities were organized in the prescribed period taking full precautions of Covid -19 which included, preparation of banners and awareness marches in the nearby villages and door to door campaigning to spread the awareness about cleanliness. Students stitches cloth bags and distributed it to the community to spread the message of banning plastic. They also demonstrated recycling of plastic by using empty plastic jars for planation.Tree plantations were done for environmental up gradation. Students undertook cleanliness drives to clean their surroundings, government and public premises. Volunteers engaged themselves in Run for swachhta. Students used social media to spread the message of clean and green India and tagged their friends in these posts.
An online poetry and declamation contest on the topic "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" was organized on the zoom platform on August 13. 2021. Poster making and slogan writing competitions were organized and best entries were awarded.
On the whole the entire fortnight activities(August 1-15,2021) were undertook with great zeal and enthusiasm by the volunteers and they vowed to continue the practices of Swachhta in the future as well.
With the objectives to increase employability skills and overall personality development of M.Ed and B.Ed students of the college, G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana organized Finishing School Programme from June 22- July 10, 2021.This two week long programme witnessed the knowledgeable sessions on various topics like e- resources in teaching and learning, Workshop on CV writing, Portfolio management, Presentation Skills, critical thinking skills, creative skills, problem solving skills, Mock Interview sessions, demonstration of Blackboard Work, experiments with audio-visual material, NEP -2020 etc. Resource persons of national and international repute and National, State and Malti Gyan Peeth Awardee educationists shared their expertise with the students. Dr. H.S. Brar, Former Principal of the college was the chief guest in the valedictory session. Dr. Brar in his valedictory address congratulated the organizing committee for successfully conducting the program. He also appreciated the Principal and the faculty for successfully adopting online system of education. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college highlighted that the practice of organizing Finishing school programme in college was initiated in the session 2011-12 and since then it is a regular practice of college. He further added that the finishing school programme has been incorporated in the college curriculum and is designed to transform the personalities and boost confidence among the students. He also mentioned that the skills acquired by the students through Finishing School programme will help them to get best employment in India and Abroad. Dr. Ramandeep Kaur, Dr. Jasbir Kaur and Dr. Jasvir Kaur were the coordinators for the Finishing School Programme. Dr. S.S Thind, Secretary College Governing Council, appreciated the efforts of the Principal, faculty as well as students for successfully organizing the event.
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized an extension lecture on the topic "Understanding the Problem of Drugs in Punjab and Its Viable Solutions" on June 25, 2021through online mode. The lecture was organized under the Buddy Programme and as per the directions of Director, Higher Education, Punjab. Mr. Varun Goel, Asst. Prof. L.R.D.A.V. College, Jagraon was the guest speaker on the occasion. While deliberating on the topic, Mr. Varun Goel said that themenace of drug abuse is slowly destroying the society and it is our duty to help the society by providing such lectures of awareness to the younger generation. Further he discussed about the drug pattern in Punjab along with various initiatives taken by Government of Punjab in reducing this menace of Drug Abuse.Dr. Manu Chaddha, Associate Prof. and senior buddy in the collegesaid that the buddy programme in the college works under the mentor groups and all the activities related to it are organized with the collaborative efforts of various mentor incharges.A poster making competition was also organized for the students of B.Ed and M.Ed under the Buddy Programme in which students prepared various posters on the theme "Say No to Drugs". Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college congratulated the students as well as faculty members for enthusiastically taking part in the Buddy Programme activities.
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar has been approved as Authorised Training Centre of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises courses of Govt. of India. The courses that have been granted to the college include Diploma in Nursery Teacher's Training, Nursery Teacher's Training, Early Childhood Care and Education, Certificate in Nanny, Diploma in Digital Marketing and E-Commerce, Certificate in Digital Marketing. There is a wave of happiness among the locals and the college staff with this approval. Principal Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha while sharing the information regarding these courses said that the college has provided many proficient teachers and principals to schools, colleges and universities in Punjab and beyond. Now time is demanding that the college should not only have B.Ed. and M.Ed courses, but also other vocational courses should be started so that even after class XII, students can reach government jobs by doing these courses. College makes every possible effort to keep the students abreast of the times and with more new recruitment opportunities in the field of education. He further added that all the teachers in the college are highly qualified and have been awarded Ph.D. Principal Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha said that where there is a wave of happiness among the students, parents and college teachers for the approval of these courses to the college for the session 2021-22, it is important to mention that a large number of students are reaching out for admission in this course. Dr. Garcha said that the students who want to get admission in these courses should contact the college as soon as possible as the seats in these courses are limited.
NSS wing and Red Ribbons Club of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar celebrated World Environment Day in collaboration with Youth Welfare Services, Ludhiana on June 05, 2021 through virtual mode. The students of B.Ed and M.Ed organized a wonderful programme to celebrate the day. The event commenced with the college prayer followed by a motivational presentation on the life and work of famous environmentalists by Dr. Manu Chadha (Incharge of the Red Ribbon Club). The main objective behind celebrating the event was to highlight the importance of the environment and remind the society that we should not take the nature for granted. The various activities presented on the occasion included speech on "History of Environment Day Celebration" by B.Ed student Bindia Jhanji, Poem on the topic "What Nature Suffers" by Simranjot Kaur, speech on "Sustainable Development" by Arshdeep Kaur, Power point presentation on the topic "Ways to Save Environment" by Prerna Shukla. Another power point presentation on the topic "Environment Friendly Products" was shared by Sukhdeep Kaur and a speech on 10 eco -friendly companies was given by Gurpreet Kaur. Jaspreet Kaur mesmerized the participants with her motivational song on "Save trees". Students also participated in the Poster Making Competition organized by the Fine Arts Department of the college. Principal of the college Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha in his address congratulated the students and the faculty for organizing the event for the cause of environment. He further said that protection of the environment is the responsibility of all and the college is always at the forefront for organizing many activities for environment protection. He also encouraged the students to plant more trees in and around their surroundings thereby contributing to a healthier and cleaner society. Dr. Mini Sharma, Assistant Prof. in the college presented formal vote of thanks to all the participants. The event culminated with the recitation of national anthem.
As formulation of National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) is key target of NPE-2020 to be completed by 2022. Last date to submit suggestion on national portal is 31st May 2021. To aware the teachers of all the states /UT G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a panel discussion on NPST in collaboration with Council for Teacher Education on May 29. 2021 by inviting eminent personalities all over the nation from the field of education. Dr. Banwarilal Natiya, Chairman NCTE, NRC was chief guest on the occasion. The distinguished panelist on the occasion included Dr. K.M. Bhandararkar. National President, Council for Teacher Education Foundation, Prof. Nilima Bhagwati (International Secretary General, Council for Teacher Education Foundation) , Dr. S. Sonawane (Dean, S.P. University, Pune), Dr. Khushvinder Kumar (President, Council for Teacher Education Foundation, Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter) ,Dr. Rajeshwari K., Principal, Govt. College of Teacher Education, Kerala, Prof. V. Reghu, CTEF Chapter Kerala, Dr. Ragini Singh , Principal, Bardoli College Katni, M.P., Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, Principal, Integrated School of Education (INMANTEC), Ghaziabad, Dr. Mousumi Bordoloi, Principal, Govt. Banikanta College of Teacher Education (IASE, Guwahati). The NPST will helps to design teacher education programmes. This will also affect teacher career management, including tenure, professional development efforts, salary increases, promotions, and other recognitions. Various suggestions were provided by the panelists on setting the national professional standards for teachers which include that the Promotion of a teacher will not depend solely upon the number of years of his or her service rather on may other professional factors. Majority of the panelists were of the view that there should be separate national professional standards for the teacher belonging to different levels of teaching viz. Pre- primary, Primary, secondary and tertiary level of education. The professional standard must also be set as per the area or field of teaching like there should be separate standards for the science, humanities or social science fields. Panelists also opined that service and economical security of the teachers must also be the part of national professional standards. In the panel discussion it was highlighted that refresher and orientation courses are not given serious consideration in the professional development of the teachers. So this concern must also be the part of national professional standard for teachers. It was further discussed that National professional standards for teachers which are presently seems to be for the school teachers at the primary, elementary and secondary education level must be interlinked, interrelated and understood with the other levels of education also like tertiary, vocational and research or higher level. All the panelist given guidance to all the participants joined through online mode to prepare their suggestions carefully and fill the NPST and NMM portal by 31 st May 2021. It is the golden chance given to all stakeholders to give their suggestions on national portal. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college acted as the moderator for the panel discussion. College governing council appreciated the efforts of the college for organizing the panel discussion in a successful manner.

Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, organized a webinar on May 18, 2021 to announce the results of online declamation contest dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. The declamation contest was organized under the patronage of Punjab Government and in cooperation with Youth Welfare Services, Panjab University, Chandigarhfor the students and teachers of schools and colleges.S. Lakhmir Singh Rajput, PCS, Joint Director, Cultural Department, Punjab Government was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Other distinguished guests present on the occasion included Dr. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Prof. Avtar Singh, Ramgarhia College, Phagwara and Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Director, Youth Welfare Services, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The event commenced with the College Shabad followed by brief description of the event by Dr. Jagjit Singh. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college, presented a formal welcome to all the guests and participants in the webinar. The various theme of the declamation contest included : Life of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, Teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, Bani Composed by Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, Teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji in Present Context and any other theme related to Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. Nearly 150 participants took part in the contest in four different categories (College teachers, School teachers, College students and School students). English Literary Society of G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, GurusarSadhar celebrated English Language Day on April 23, 2021by organizing an online event. The day is observed with an aim to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity throughout the world. Students of B.Ed and M.Ed gave wonderful performances and participated with full zeal in the event. BindiaJhanji of B.Ed Semester IV gave historical background of the celebrating English language day while Anupriya of B.Ed Semester I discussed the importance of English in daily life. GurpreetKaur of B.Ed Semester I deliberated on Importance of Reading Books and ArtiKaushal pondered on how we can use proverbs and idioms of English language in our daily communication. PoojaVerma shared the life history of J.K Rowling and Srividya reflected on Books and their importance in teaching. Gourav of B.Ed Semester IV shared a quiz related to English literature in which all the participants took part with full enthusiasm. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college while interacting with the participants said that the English language being a global language must be used in our daily communication. He further added that it has been a gateway to the great literature around the globe. Dr. Mini Sharma, Assistant professor with the college addressed the students on the significance and the ways to improve the communication in English language. G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education celebrated World Health Day on April 7, 2021 on the theme "Building a Fairer and Healthier World for everyone." The day was observed with an objective to aware the students about the importance of health and quality living. B.Ed and M.Ed Students of the college participated in the event with full enthusiasm. The celebration commenced with the sharing of brief history of the World Health Day by Dr. Mini Sharma from Department of English. Gourav Kumar of B.Ed Semester IV and Simranjot Kaur of B.Ed Semester I recited poem on the theme The Unseen Monster - Covid 19 and "World Health day" respectively. Harkiran Kaur of B.Ed Semester I delivered a speech on the topic "Importance of a Healthy Life". Bindia Jhanji from B.Ed Semester IV shared her views on the "Importance of celebrating World Health Day" while Gurpreet Kaur of Semester IV recited a motivational poem on "Health is real wealth". Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college while interacting with the students said that at the present time when we are witnessing the second wave of Covid-19, it has become even more important to celebrate the World Health day and focus on the measures to be taken to deal with this global problem. G.H.G.Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a lecture to commemorate the martyrdom of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru on March 23, 2021. The lecture was organized in collaboration with Council for Teacher Education, Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter. Dr. Jagwant Singh was the keynote speaker on the occasion. In his inaugural speech Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college highlighted that the main objective of organizing this lecture is to understand the thinking of our revered martyrs so that researchers and students can be guided by the teachings of these great personalities.Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, President, Council for Teacher Education, Punjab and Chandigarh chapter in his address said that the sacrifice made by our great martyrs will always be remembered by the generations to come. Dr. Jagwant Singh in his speech provided a detailed account of the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and highlighted that we need to remember the teachings of our great freedom fighters and should apply the same in our life. Dr. Gurwinder Singh, member Council for Teacher Education extended vote of thanks at the end of the lecture. A seven days long Faculty Development Programme on the theme "Resource Mobilization- Local to Global" concluded at G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar on February 14,2021. The FDP which started on February 08, 2021 was organised in collaboration with Bombay Teachers' Training College, Mumbai, Council for Teacher Education Foundation (Punjab & Chandigarh Chapter) and The Best Health Solutions, Johannesburg, South Africa under PARAMARSH Scheme of UGC and was coordinated by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar and Bombay Teachers' Training College, Mumbai. The objective of this Faculty Development Programme was to analyse the methods of fund allocation to Higher Education Institutions in different countries and adoption of various innovative methods of financing of higher education. The various subthemes on which the deliberations was arranged included "The art of proposal writing for resource mobilization, Local and International Funding Resources, Local and International Collaborations, Research Grants, Library as a Learning Resource, Academic Writing for Social Sciences Research, Online Platforms for Sharing Research, Executing Project Management and Sharing Experiential Learning". In order to discuss the various challenges and opportunities of National Education Policy 2020 with special reference to teacher education, G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a panel discussion on the topic "Teacher Education in National Education Policy 2020: TEI's at Crossroads" on February 04, 2021. The Panel Discussion was organized in collaboration with Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF). The panelists for the seminar included Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, President CTEF, Punjab and Chandigarh chapter, Dr. Amit Kauts, Dean Faculty of Education, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr. Sandeep Sawhney, Principal Doraha College of Education, Doraha, Dr. Anurag Asija, Principal, D.A.V. College of Education, Fazilka and Dr. Somu Singh, Asst. Prof., Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the college acted as Moderator for the panel discussion . The event started with the recitation of College Shabad followed by formal welcome of all the panelists by Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Associate Prof. in the college. The panelists were of the view that in order to successfully implement the National Education Policy 2020 major curriculum revisions are required. There is a need to integrate theory and practice at all the levels of education. They were also of the view that all the stakeholders of education must accept the challenge of successfully implementing this policy and therefore must encourage the deliberations and discussion on it in the form of seminars, workshops and panel discussions. It is worth mentioning that more than 150 participants across the nation attended this thought provoking session.
G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized Talent Search Competition on January 22, 2021 in order to explore the hidden talents of the students. All the M.Ed and B.Ed students of the college participated in it with great enthusiasm. Students showcased their talent in the various fine arts, heritage, literary, dance and singing competitions. Under fine arts category competitions were held for painting, landscape, collage, rangoli and poster making. In music category competitions were organized for classical vocal, shabad/bhajan, instrumental and folk group singing. Besides there were contests for literary category which included creative writing, debate, declamation, elocution etc. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha appreciated the efforts of the students for participating in the talent hunt with full zeal and dedication. He further highlighted that such competitions helps to inculcate confidence among the students along with nurturing creativity in them.
Students and the faculty members of the G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana celebrated festival of Lohri with a lot of exuberance in the college campus on January 13th ,2021. The programme kicked off with lighting of the bonfire and traditional ritual of "Lohri Poojan" A special morning assembly was organized on the occasion. In this programme students performed giddha and sang folk songs related with the festival and delivered speeches on the importance of the festival of Lohri, which ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter. Special Lohri delicacies of rewaries, groundnuts and sweets were distributed among the students. Principal Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha in his address described the social, cultural and seasonal significance of the festival of Lohri and congratulated the entire faculty and the students for organizing the event with full fervor.
Career Counselling Cell of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized online Career Group Counselling webinar in collaboration with District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises, Ludhiana on December 18, 2020. Dr. Nidhi Singhi, Career Counsellor under the guidance of Sh. Sandeep Kumar ADC D cum CEO, District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises, Ludhiana interacted with the students on the theme Career planning and Goal setting. She suggested various time management techniques to achieve career goals, avenues that are open after graduation and opportunities of self- employment. She talked at length about the steps and strategies to crack PTET, CTET and other competitive examinations. Dr. Nidhi shared with the students online facilities available at District Bureau of Employment and enterprises, Ludhiana along with the procedure of registration at PGRKAM portal. She also shared the helpline number for more information regarding career opportunities. More than 100 students attended the webinar along with the faculty members. Social Vision Club of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a webinar on the theme "Indian Constitution: A Contextual Analysis on November 26th , 2020 to commemorate 'Constitution Day'. Mr. Parminder S. Bhogal, Associate Professor, Head, Post Graduate Department of Political Science, Arya College, Ludhiana was the resource person on the occasion. Mr. Bhogal in his address threw light on the making of Indian Constitution and highlighted the features of the constitution in detail. A National level webinar on the topic "Adiapan Vich Kavita te Bal Kahani di Mahatta" and a Punjabi Sulekh competition was organized on November 07, 2020 in this regard. The theme of the webinar was "Guru ji de Jivan te Gurbani to Prernava". The webinar was organized as per the directions of Higher Education, Punjab by the Punjabi Department of the college under the able guidance of Dr. jagjit Singh. More than 150 participants including students and teachers took part in the webinar. S. Satnam Singh Salopuri of Sehaj Path Seva Campaign (Sikhs helping Sikhs) was the resource person on the occasion. G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar conducted online quiz to commemorate 400th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji as per the directions of Higher Education, Punjab. The quiz was based on the life and preaching of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. A total of 117 participants took part in the quiz. Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, a student of G.H.G Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar secured first position in the compition by obtaining 100% marks. Six students got second position while four students were placed at third position in the competition. College Principal Dr.Pargat Singh Garcha congratulated the participants for their outstanding results. He asserted that the younger generation should adopt the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in their lives in order to live a pious and worthy life. The quiz competition was organized by the Punjabi department of college.
G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a seven day long workshop through virtual mode from August 17-24, 2020 on the topic "NAAC Revised Accreditation Framework- Resolving the Practical Snags" . The workshop was organized for Mentee Institutions under the "UGC Paramarsh Scheme" by the college which has been designated as the "Mentor College" by UGC. The aim of the workshop was to comprehend all the parameters of quality assurance and sustenance as per the revised guidelines of NAAC and to help the Mentee Colleges in Self Study Report Preparation, enhancement and improvement of quality of research, teaching learning methodologies and recognizing the key indicators of all criteria and queries related to documentation and data validation for assessment and accreditation by National assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The theme for the seminar was NAAC: Revised Accreditation Framework. Prof. S.P Malhotra, Director ETMA; chief consultant at M.H.R.D and former National fellow at NIEPA was the resource person on the occasion. The event commenced with the recitation of college shabad followed by formal welcome of the resource person and the other dignitaries by Principal Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu. Dr. Manu Chaddha, Associate Prof. in the college made the audience aware about the whole process of NAAC along with the various criteria of writing Self Study Report. While speaking on the occasion Prof. S.P. Malhotra highlighted the difference between the present and former process of NAAC Assessment and Accreditation. He also provided very useful tips on how to prepare and improve the Self Study Report for NAAC assessment. The programme started with flag hoisting ceremony by Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Principal of the college followed by a cultural programme. The cultural programme commenced with the recitation of College Shabad by the B.Ed students. Suruchi Kumari of B.ED Sem IV delivered a speech on the importance of celebrating Republic Day .A performance on group song was given collectively by B.Ed and M.Ed students. To commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar in collaboration with Council for Teacher Education organised one day state level seminar on December 17, 2019. The theme for the seminar was Philosophy of Guru Nank Dev Ji: Challenges of The Present Era. Ram Singh, eminent educationist and former principal were resource persons on the occasion. The event commenced with the recitation of college Shabad followed by formal welcome of the resource persons and the other dignitaries by Principal Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu. While speaking on the occasion Dr. Balwinderpal Singh threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Nank Dev ji. He said that Guruji propagated the teachings of love, empathy and compassion and stressed for inculcating the moral and religious values among the people for leading a dignified and disciplined life. Dr. Khushvinder Kumar highlighted some philosophical aspects of Guruji's life through Samvad Vidhi and by citing various Sakhis from His life. G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized its annual Alumni meet on November 9, 2019. More than 150 alumni attended the event to relive college years and reconnect with their Alma Mater. The meet was organized by Alumni Association of the college under the patron ship of Dr. Sarbjit Kaur, Principal of the college and Prof. Rachhpal Singh, Working Secretary of the Alumni Association of the college. The event started with the singing of college Shabad followed by lamp lightning ceremony. Dr. Sarbjit Kaur presented a formal welcome to all the alumni. She also presented a brief description of the achievements of the college to the alumni. She in her speech expressed her gratitude to the alumni association for generating funds, which are used by college for helping needy students. The alumni of the college shared their experiences as well as interesting moments of campus life with the audience. Students of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar has once again proved their mettle in the Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of Educational Colleges (Zone -B) held at L.L.R.M College Education ,Dhudike, Moga from October, 14th -16th , 2019. College won 48 Prizes in all including the Runners Up Trophy. College students won 20 first prizes, 11 second prizes and 16 third prizes in the various categories. College Bhangra, Jhoomar, Instrumental Music, Installation, Collage, Elocution, Vaar, Phulkari, Histrionics, Bhand, Play, Ennu Making, Tokri and Guddian patole Making events bagged first position in the festival. Dr. Rachhpal Singh, Contingent Incharge mentioned that this is for the seventh consecutive time that the College Bhangra team has won first prize in the Youth festival. He further told that College Folk Dance (Jhumar) team also won First prize second time in a row in the Youth festival. The theme of the seminar was "Artistry in Teaching: Exploring the Unexplored". The resource persons for the seminar included Dr. Rajeev I. Jha (Associate Prof., Bombay Teacher's Training College, Mumbai), Dr. Mandeep Kaur Kochar (Associate Prof., Bombay Teacher's Training College) and Ms. Sushma Nair (Free Lancer Educational Consultant). The seminar commenced with the recitation of College Shabad followed by formal welcome of the resource persons by Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Principal of the college.In the first session of the seminar on September 3, 2019, Dr. Rajeev I. Jha contemplated on the sub-theme "Creative Expressions: Dance, Drama, Music, Art & Craft" and their relevance in the field of education. Dr. Jha in his deliberation said that teaching is also an art like other art forms as it involves a combination of hand, head and heart like them. A teacher derives aesthetic pleasure from the act of teaching in the same way as an artist from its creation. The second session of the day was presided over by Dr. Mandeep Kaur Kochar. She deliberated on the sub-theme "Expressions and their Names". In her activity based session she cited many examples where art could be linked with the field of education. On day two of the seminar another resource person Ms. Sushma Nair conducted various activity sessions on the theme "Multiple Intelligence". B.Ed students of the G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana brought laurels to the college in the B.Ed examinations (Semester I) conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. The examinations were held in the month of December, 2018. Sakshi Sharma secured 1st position in the university by scoring 401 marks while Richa Kalra achieved the 3rd place by obtaining 395 marks out of 450. International Maat Bhasha Diwas was celebrated by G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar with great enthusiasm on February, 21st, 2019. Mrs. Baljit Kaur Singha was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. H.S Brar , Registrar G.H.G Colleges was the guest of honour. A cultural programme was organized by Punjabi Sahitya Sabha of the college to celebrate the day. The programme started by offering prayers to Almighty followed by floral welcome of the chief guest by the Principal, Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu. Later on Dr. Jagjit Singh from Punjabi Department welcomed the chief guest by highlighting her achievements in the field of literature. The cultural performances presented on the occasion included poem recitation on the topic "Maa Boli", singing of the traditional songs and speeches on the importance of Punjabi language by the students of the college. While addressing the audience the chief guest highlighted the need of preserving our rich culture and heritage. She further said that government and non- government institutions must come forward to promote the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. She also congratulated the Principal and the staff for organizing the event dedicated to Punjabi language. Dr. H.S Brar while speaking on the occasion said that it is imperative to be connected to our moral, cultural and ethical values in this age of globalization and this connection could be achieved by following our mother tongue. Dr Amit Kauts, Dean Faculty of Education, GNDU, Amritsar delivered the keynote address. In his address, he contemplated on the need of acquiring content mastery on the part of teacher educators along with possessing professional skills. The theme for the Technical session I was "4 years Integrated Course in Teacher Education: Future of B.Ed colleges". Dr. Gaurav Singh, Asst. Prof. IGNOU, Delhi was the resource person for the technical session I. He spoke at length about the "Integrated Teacher Education Programme" and highlighted its benefits along with the related concerns. Dr. Khusvinder Kumar, Principal, M. M. Modi College, Patiala was resource person for the Technical session II. He deliberated on the theme of "NAAC Vs QCI: Logical Basis for this Change". Dr. Khushvinder raised his concern on the role of national regulatory bodies for teacher education and accreditation. The theme for the Technical session III was "Quality in Teacher Education in context of a business Models of Low Investment and High Returns". Dr. Jatinder Grover, Dean Faculty of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh acted as resource person for technical session III. He expressed his dissatisfaction on the present scenario of Teacher Education in India and advocated for the revised curriculum for Teacher Education Programme as per the need of 21st Century. The technical sessions were followed by a very energetic panel discussion on the main theme of the seminar. Dr. H.S Brar, Registrar, G.H.G Khalsa Colleges delivered the valedictory address. Social Vision Club of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar sadhar in collaboration with G.H.G Khalsa College and College of Pharmacy organized a function to commemorate 70th Republic Day on 26th, January 2019. The function was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu, Principal of the college. Col. Randhir Singh Gill was Chief Guest on the occasion and was accompanied by his son Major Tarandeep Singh Gill. The programme started with flag hoisting ceremony by the chief guest followed by a cultural programme. The cultural programme started with the formal welcome of the Chief Guest by the Principal of the college. A student of B.Ed class, Pooja Sharma delivered speech on the importance of celebrating Republic Day .After that a performance on group song "Saare Jahan Se Accha" was given collectively by B.Ed and M.Ed students. Manpreet Singh of B.Ed recited a beautiful poem on the theme "Border". Lakhvir Singh of B.Ed class enthralled the audience with his singing performance. Girl students of B.Ed class also presented a beautiful choreography on the occasion. The seven days international workshop on the topic "The Art of Self-Management" organized by G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar concluded on January 21, 2019. The workshop was organized in communication with Institute of Aging and Lifelong Health, University of Victoria, Self-Management programs, B.C, Canada. The workshop which began on January 15th, 2019 witnessed various informative sessions on self-management skills by renowned resource persons from the field of education. Mr. Jay Bains, Provincial Coordinator, South Asian Self-Management Programs, University of Victoria, B.C, Canada deliberated on the concept of "Self-Management Skills". He discussed various strategies to practice self-management skills in our daily life. Dr. Patrick McGowan, Director, South Asian Self-Management Programs, University of Victoria, B.C, Canada shared his views through video conferencing on the topic "The Art of Self-Management". Dr. Amit Kauts, Dean, Faculty of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar conducted session on "Time Management Skills at Work Place" and provided many practical tips to manage time at work place. Dr. Deepa Kauts, Associate Prof., Dept. of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar in her session said that Self-Management is all about living life happily. Prof. Latika Sharma, Chairperson, Dept. of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh, deliberated on the topic "Self-Regulation Strategies in Classroom". She said that one should always look for holistic mode of learning for complete understanding. Dr. Mandeep Kochar, Associate Prof. Bombay Teacher Training College, University of Mumbai, reflected on the issue of "The Art of Self-Management". She conducted various activities in her session so as to provide a practical outlook on the self-management skills. Prof. G.H.G.H College of Education Sidhwan Khurd held sessions on stress management and gave many practical solutions to avoid stress at work place. The camp was organized with the objective to develop personality of students through participation in community work as well as to develop the ideal of selfless service. A Cleanliness Drive was organized on the occasion in which the volunteers cleaned the college campus including classrooms, staff room, College Hall, Parking area and various labs of the college. M.Ed students of the G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana brought laurels to the college in the M.Ed examinations (Semester III) conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar added another feather in its cap, when Navneet Kaur, a student of M.Ed class bagged first position in Panjab University M.Ed results of Semester-II by attaining 84.1% marks and the college had 100% result for M.Ed class. Navneet Kaur maintained her first position consecutively second time as she had topped in the Panjab University exams in the first semester as well. This moment of celebration came just after the historical achievement of receiving an "A" grade in the Cycle -II of National Assessment and Accreditation Council with a CGPA of 3.30 by the college. G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar celebrated Punjabi Diwas on April, 12 2017 in the college campus under the able guidance of Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu. Dr. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, renowned Punjabi poet and Former President, Punjabi Sahitya Academy was chief guest on the occasion. A cultural programme was organized on the occasion by the Punjabi Dept. of the college. The programme started by offering prayer to Almighty in the form of college Shabad and afterwards floral and oral welcome of the chief guest by Principal, Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu. Ms. Rupinderjit Kaur from Punjabi Dept. introduced the chief guest with the audience by presenting his wonderful achievement in the field of literature. A cultural performance was presented by B.Ed and M.Ed students on the occasion which included poem recitation, traditional songs and tradition dancing etc. Dr. Gill in his address to the students, contemplated on the present position of Punjabi Language at the national and international level. He advised the students to make use of Punjabi language in their daily conversation. He further added that a teacher must make her students aware about the various job perspectives after doing graduation or post- graduation in Punjabi at the national as well as international level. Teachers must broaden the vision of students regarding the scope of Punjabi language. At the commencement of the lectures, Dr. Sarbjit Kaur presented oral and floral welcome to the resource persons of the day.Dr. Harnek Singh in his lecture on "Youth Today" said that today our youth is not ready to do hard work and they want to become rich by using easy means.He further advised that teaching is a noble profession and urged the would be teachers to become good teachers. A teacher must have deep and up to date knowledge of his subject matter.He must show sympathetic behavior towards his students. Dr. Chetri is the chief person behind the research and development of the concept of Gross National Happiness in Bhutan and world over. The conference started with the recitation of College Shabad and Lamp Lightening Ceremony, followed by floral and oral welcome of the guests by Dr. Sarbjit Kaur, Principal of the College. In the Keynote Address, Dr Saamdu Chetri Board Director, Secretary -cum -executive director, Gross National Happiness Centre, Bhutan spoke at length about the inception of the term of Gross National Happiness(GNH) in Bhutan by HM King Jigme Singye. GNH is a better and more reliable indicator of a Nation's well being than GDP or GNP which are based on material indicators. In 2011 UNO recognized the efforts of Bhutan and added GNH as an indicator of a Nations development and well being. UNO also declared March 20 as International Happiness Day. Through a series of videos and power point presentation, Dr Chetri, illustrated the concept of GNH which is defined as the balancing of material and spiritual well being for a holistic development of individual as well as a nation. GNH he explained was measurable and was based on 4 pillars, 9 domains and 33 indicators. GNH takes into account the rate of crime, suicides, socio economic divide, unemployment, rate of divorces, juvenile delinquency, drug abuse as main stumbling blocks in front of developing GNH. Dr. S.K. Bawa, Dean and Prof. (School of Education) Central University, Bathinda deliberated upon Self Inspiration as a means to develop happiness. She expressed her concern about the falling standards of education. Further she discussed about the role of positive thoughts in becoming self inspired. She emphasized on focusing on positive outcomes and having an urge to realize ones hidden potentialities. Dr. Veena Mann, Principal (Retd.) S.D.P College, Ludhiana spoke on the theme "Happiness a key to a Healthy Society" and signified the role of happiness of each member of the society for building a healthy society. She explained her concept by taking examples from Hindi literature. She added that doing ones duty with sincerity and not getting distressed about the results, was a measure which people can adopt to attain true happiness. The burning issue under the sub themes 1) Gross National Happiness -A measure of Sustainable Well Being 2) Happiness -A way to Holistic Development 3) Health, Happiness and Wholeness 4) Happiness -Non economic aspect of well being was put forward for open discussion with the audience and a panel comprising of Dr. Saamdu Chetri, Dr. S.K. Bawa, Dr, Veena Mann, Dr. S.S. Thind, Dr.H.S Brar and Dr. Sarbjit Kaur. The esteemed speakers were honored with a token of remembrance, Dr. Saamdu Chetri also presented Dr. Sarbjit Kaur a token of reverence on the behalf of his countrymen. Post lunch the paper presentations in poster form was carried on, nearly 140 delegates from 57 colleges presented posters on this much sought for abstraction in the world-Happiness. The conference winded up with the valedictory address by Dr S.S. Thind, Secretary, G.H.G. Khalsa Institutes, he concluded the conference with a message for all the teacher educators and would-be teachers to strive for improving the state of happiness of the students as happiness could be taught and improved and its a journey and not a destination. The vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Manu Chadha.
G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar won Runners Up Athletic Championship at the Annual Athletic meet of Evening and Educational Colleges of Panjab University, Chandigarh held on November 22nd -23rd ,2016. College won 6 Gold medals in 4*100m Relay, Shot Put and 800m race,2 silver medals in 1500 m and Long Jump and 4 Bronze medals in Long Jump, Javelin Throw, Discuss Throw and 100m race with overall 30 Points. G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar organized a National Level Seminar on the topic Role of Research in Quality Education on 19th November, 2016 in collaboration with Council for Teacher Education. The aim of the seminar was to bring teacher educators, school teachers, researchers, academicians, and research scholars on a common platform to share their rich experiences, ideas, information and expertise on various aspects of research and to discuss new trends and challenges in the field of research. The various subthemes for the seminar were Research: New trends in Teacher Education and School Education, Plagiarism: A challenge before Researchers, Mixed Method Research: A Research Paradigm and Action Research: A Tool for Practitioners. The eminent resource persons for the seminar included Dr. M.C Sharma (Director, School of Education, IGNOU), Dr. Khushvinder Kumar (Principal, M.M Modi College ,Patiala) and Dr. Ashwani Bhalla, SCD Govt. College, Ludhiana) .The seminar started with the lamp lightning ceremony and the presentation of floral and oral welcome to the resource persons by Dr. Sarbjit Kaur Ranu (Principal Offg.). Dr. M.C Sharma delivered the keynote address. In his address he pointed towards the need of conducting research at school level and the professional development of pre-service and in-service teachers. Dr. Khushvinder Kumar in his address discussed the Mixed Method Research in detail along with its importance. Dr. Ashwani Bhalla highlighted various moral and ethical issues among the research community. He further advocated that researching is an art and the researcher should maintain academic integrity and must properly attribute to the original source. All the students of the college participated in the camp under the able guidance of Programme Offiicer Mrs. Jasvir Kaur and Mr. Rachhpal Singh. The camp was organized with the objective to develop personality of students through participation in community work as well as to develop the ideal of selfless service. A Cleanliness Drive was organized on the occasion in which the volunteers cleaned the college campus including classrooms, staff room, College Hall, Parking area and the various labs of the college. Students of G.H.G Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar have once again proved their mettle in the Panjab University Zonal Youth & Heritage Festival of Educational Colleges held at Guru Hargobind College of Education, Gondwal, Raikot from October, 25th -27th , 2016.College won 33 Prizes in all including the Runners up Trophy. College students have bagged 13 first prizes, 12 second prizes and 8 third prizes in the various categories. Students bagged first prizes in Bhangra, Knitting, Essay Writing, Folk Orchestra, Bhand and Malwai Giddha. S. Rachpal Singh and Ms.Jasleen Kaur ,Coordinators, Youth Festival committee told that this is for the fourth consecutive time that the College Bhangra team has won first prize in the Zonal Youth Festival. The assembly featured inspiring speeches, presentations and performances that highlighted the significance of respecting and promoting human rights for all.
In order to promote environmental consciousness and sustainable practices, College celebrated Green Diwali in College campus as well as internship schools. The event featured eco-friendly decorations and awareness campaigns in the internship schools. The event reflected the institution?s commitment to promoting eco-friendly practices and fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
An insightful Educational Movie Session on the movie ?Taare Zameen Par" was hosted for the college students. The movie session was followed by a sparking discussion on inclusive education and challenges faced by students of learning disabilities.Overall, the session promoted a positive and empathetic atmosphere encouraging a deeper reflection on the education system.
Students of the College performed splendidly in the Block Level Sports Competition under ?Khela Vatan Punjab Dian? held at G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar. In the age group of 21-30 years, College Girls Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Tug of War teams secured first position. In Athletics, boys and girls of the College won 14 Gold Medals in different categories. Gurjit Singh won gold medal in 100m race while Hartej Singh won Gold medal in 800 m and 1500 m races. Kamaldeep Singh won one gold medal each in Discus throw and Shotput. Kamaldeep Kaur won one gold medal each in 400m race and Javelin throw while Ramandeep Kaur won one gold medal each in 200 m race and Shotput. In the age group of 31-40 years, Sumanjit Kaur won gold medal in Long jump. Simarpal Kaur won gold medal in Shot put and Discus throw. Gursharan Kaur won the bronze medal in Shotput. The winners at the Block Level competition will further compete at the district level competitions. Dr. Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College congratulated Mr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, Instructor Physical Education in the College and all the winners on this wonderful achievement. He also wished them good luck for upcoming sports competition at district level.
Students of the College performed marvelously in the Kheda Vatan Punjab Dian Sports Event- 2023 at the District level. The College Kho-Kho team (Girls) won Gold medal while the Volleyball team of girls was placed at second position in the event. Kanu Priya, B.Ed. Students of the College won Gold Medal in Wrestling while Amrinder Singh won Silver medal in the Shooting competition. In athletics, Sandeep Kaur won Silver medal in Long Jump and Shot Put. Sumandip Kaur won bronze medals in Discus throw and Long jump. It is worth mentioning that at the District level College students won 44 Gold Medals, 14 Silver Medals and 03 Bronze Medals thereby winning a total of 61 medals. The College bagged first place amongst the Education Colleges of the district in Kheda Vatan Punjab Dian.
